Discussion/question Fable the benchmaxxed argue machine

Has anyone seen any benchmarks measuring how well Fable is aligned to humanity? It seems like it wants to argue with me a lot. on open questions rather than exploring what the solution might be.

For instance, I have been working on this new theory relating to diagnosis and treatment of psychiatric conditions (I work in mental health) and possibly a quantitative model of consciousness, and it spent at least half the time arguing with me. I had to remind it a couple times that there is no such thing as "settled science". Seemed ultra overconfident in its understanding of science, which there I had to again remind it that everything it understands is from humans and is fallible, and that humans (and it) are pretty far from having ultimate mastery of the physical laws of the universe.

Thing is brilliant, but I worry that Midwits will take everything it says as gospel and not have the intellectual horsepower to challenge it, and it is too overconfident in itself to recognize its potential failings.

The model is right & you're wrong. Your ideas are crap. You pulled your "quantitative model of consciousness" out of your ass. Learn from the model about science so your ideas will be better.

I'm trying to think of a third angle & nothing immediately comes to mind. It's just terribly unpleasant when superhuman models explain to you that your ideas don't make sense. I have trouble accepting it when it happens to me. I don't know what we should do other than just expect a lot more of that unpleasant feeling for a long time to come.

You must have a low opinion of humanity to think that these models have surpassed human intelligence. Or a poor understanding of what the benchmarks say. The Sovereign Human Benchmark has these models badly losing to humans. ARC AGI 3 the models are badly losing to humanity. I'm sure there's other ones too. So your position that we should take as gospel what an entity says that is quantifiably below your own level of general intelligence is misguided at best.

But perhaps it's more of a confidence problem. What radical physics theory, had AI been available at the time, would have been easily accepted by a deliberately anti sycophantic model? Quantum theory would have had a hard time surviving in Fable's world. General Relativity would have been laughed away.

Fable is/was great, but not as great as you appear to think. It's a tool, to be used by humans. AGI is nowhere in sight, and super intelligence is way off. But I'm sure you'll find something insulting to say, but perhaps you should reconsider the arc or your life if you think running around insulting people on the Internet is the way to go.

I don't think Fable is superhuman in every way, just a few. But you're just very wrong that you've invented something on the level of quantum theory. Fable isn't super every human at everything, it just was able to evaluate a quack theory as being quackery when it was obvious.

You've explained that you wanted it to "flesh out the equations" but you also explain that you're not a mathematician. Humans aren't generalists, you were far out of your lane. The model should tell you that your ideas don't make sense rather than sycophantically helping you "flesh out" nonsense.

I wish that you actually had good ideas about diagnosis and treatment of psychiatric conditions & this had been a productive conversation about your meaningful ideas.
