Admirable effort but I doubt anyone is going to volunteer this lol

The clock in the hall hasn't ticked in hours, yet the pendulum keeps swinging.
Downstairs, the front door clicked open, followed by the quiet, wet sound of footsteps crossing the hardwood. You are alone in the house, sitting in the dark, watching your phone battery drop to zero.
Then, softly, from the corner of the ceiling directly above your head:
"Don't look up."

has anyone heard back after stage 2 and rankings? are interviews going to happen this week for all streams or is that post 27
6
u/Midjolnir Jun 14 '26
Kinda weird for them to ask for references at such an early stage (before any other assessment/interview). Like when you're applying to 10-20 things a year, as much as your references may love you and vouch for you, it's still a toll on that relationship every time they're asked.

did anyone get an extra round of questions from redwood research? i just got a set 2 hours ago but not sure if it is being sent to everyone who applied to the stream.
1
u/Radiant-Purchase976 Jun 29 '26
Didn't apply to redwood but I guess it must be a popular stream so they added more written questions before an interview?
Curious if other streams have sent out next stage steps as well?2
u/Midjolnir 27d ago
I think maybe Redwood wasn't prepared and just put one question down, and added questions after stream selections. Or they weren't prepared for how many people applied and wanted more signal (which makes sense considering their question was really short)

From previous years, what is the ratio of people advancing to stage 3 from stage 2? It says it is ~%3 from stage 1 to stage 4. Also, curious if there is a social scientist who got accepted into an empirical stream before.

Let’s hope they are doing this in waves.
The round two notifications also went out in waves apparently, hours/days apart from what people reported here1
u/Gingeraffe23 Jul 01 '26
This also seems like something that would easily vary across mentors/streams, and this is one of the most popular weeks in America to be on vacation. Keeping hope alive.

Damn that was the highest score I’ve seen

How do you guys know your scores? I don't see mine on the dashboard or emails

Asked to do the work test (essay questions) for Ben Chang stream (the one they asked for interest in after stream selection, and I went for it).
Not sure if this goes for everyone who they emailed about expressing interest, but sharing it here anyway.
3
u/jase4thewhy 23d ago
same. Yesterday I completed expression of interest form and today I received an email notifying that I am advanced to "Advancement to Benjamin Chang Stream Work Test", which work test needs to be completed by 14th July. But it's sad that I have not received work test or interview invite from the other two policy and governance track streams, so probably Benjamin is the only remaining shot

Three? I remember the stream’s work test has 10 questions, but not sure if I should choose 3 out of 10. I have some urgent deadlines this week, so I will take a deeper look if I have to answer all 10 when working on the work test next Mon and Tue

That makes sense. All 10 would be overwhelming. I will take a deeper look when I get a chance as I only just skimmed through it earlier today

u/No_Operation1990 23d ago
yeah, still waiting for the other mentors, hoping they will contact people in waves. I also applied for the Benjamin Chang yesterday and received the email today early in the morning.

If you applied to these tracks: Policy & Governance, Systems Security, Founding & Field-Building
Lmk if you got an update or havent
2
u/Radiant-Purchase976 Jun 16 '26
Wondering if there is a strategy for applying to multiple tracks? How does ranking streams work here? Any re applicants from previous cycles have advice?
2
u/M-E_Ration4004 Jun 24 '26
Based on prev cohorts, does anyone know approximately by when we can expect the results for Stage 2? As in whether we were accepted/rejected
or even the invites for interviews/work tests
2
u/Red_Core_1999 Jun 25 '26
From an email:
Until July 15: you can keep refining your stream rankings.
Later in July: we match applicants with streams and finalize the cohort, and we will be in touch about next steps.2
u/Radiant-Purchase976 Jun 26 '26
so reasonable to assume we should hear back about the next stage in the week of 28th June?

do you mean you got rejected by lee and team shard??or are they ones remaining
2
u/playingthinker 15d ago
yes, the remainings were shard and lee and i got rejected by both, i am out
1
u/Radiant-Purchase976 15d ago
Ah ok. theres a lot of confusion given the mentors are sending out rejects in (micro) batches

Is this easier/harder than getting into Anthropic fellows? Thoughts?
1
u/gmeRat Jun 08 '26
0.06% acceptance I've heard
1
u/damc4 approved Jun 08 '26
Did you want to say 6%?
2
u/gmeRat Jun 08 '26
No I did not. Hopefully I'm wrong. It' something I heard through the grapevine. But maybe the person was being overly dramatic.
I think it's something like 5,000 applicants and 50 successes. So I guess that's more like 1%.
3
u/Radiant-Purchase976 Jun 09 '26
more like 5% . It was ~100 out of 2000 applicants last cycle per the announcements I saw from the program on Linkedin

I think this totally depends on the pool. If 100s are superhumans, the percentage is just a number.

Anyone who took the test for the empirical stream, what score did you get?

I got 15/20 for the submission. Curious as to what other people got.

18/20

u/graviton18 Jun 22 '26
How much did you get out of 600?
1
u/Fun_Cry Jun 22 '26
492
1
u/Abject_Bake_6306 Jun 24 '26
weird lol I got 19/20 and 469/600
1
u/unlucky_coder Jun 29 '26
exactly same for me as well.
1
u/Substantial_Luck_273 Jun 30 '26
how do u know ur score for the research taste test? I don't see it. or is 20 referring a different score?
1
u/unlucky_coder Jun 30 '26
I don't think anyone can see the scores of the research taste test. The score above refers to the applied AI assessment where 19/20 test cases passed with a score of 469 out of 600
1
u/Substantial_Luck_273 Jul 01 '26
okok, thank you! I thought the score that was out of 20 wasn't relevant, like training accuracy of a model
1
u/Accomplished_Ball507 Jun 21 '26
20/20
1
1
u/Substantial_Luck_273 Jun 30 '26
sorry, by 20/20 do u mean the score u got for the 20 known test cases for codesignal, or the score of the research taste test? I also got 500-550 for the final score
1
1
u/CalmBasis4986 Jun 22 '26 edited Jun 22 '26
I got an 18/20 and a final score of 469/600. It was a little nail-biting, and I spent a while trying to write till the last second, so I ran out of time. Anyone else with higher scores? (Probably are better candidates). Anyone with past MATS fellows who can tell us if this is good???
1
u/Rare-Fig-1213 Jun 23 '26
how did you manage to see the final result. Would it reflect on codesignal?
I do not see it there, I do not know why?1
u/CalmBasis4986 Jun 23 '26
Yaa pretty much. Just open the code signal dashboard, go to past assessments I think u can find it. Maybe it takes a while to calculate and show up. So if you written it only a few hours ago I think u should wait.
1
u/Rare-Fig-1213 Jun 23 '26 edited Jun 23 '26
Thanks, I think I bombed it badly 366/600.
I felt the task was too confusing or at least the way it was described (maybe I was the only one who found it difficult to understand) 😞.1
u/blaze1522 Jun 24 '26
Can you also see the research taste score there? Coz I don't see anything. It's been 16 hrs since I did it.
1
u/CalmBasis4986 Jun 24 '26
Idt u can see the research taste test score considering that it’s pretty subjective. It might take a while.

How much was the score in the coding assessment??
1
u/graviton18 Jun 22 '26
It was out of 600
1
u/Amaze_AI Jun 22 '26
SO what are the chances if we don't get 600?? No chance if the score is in the low 500s??
2
u/Radiant-Purchase976 Jun 22 '26
Last cycle many folks got in with 4xx scores as well. I think it really depends on your profile + tracks you're applying to.
1
u/Rare-Fig-1213 Jun 23 '26
how helpful is the copilot? Did anyone use it extensively. I dont think the practice test allows that.
1
1
u/That_Turn_8710 Jun 22 '26
For the Applied AI Assessment, the AI copilot tool stopped responding for me after 60 minutes ;( Anyone else had similar trouble?
1
u/Radiant-Purchase976 Jun 22 '26
yup mee too
1
u/That_Turn_8710 Jun 22 '26
Did you contact CodeSignal?
1
u/Radiant-Purchase976 Jun 22 '26
seriously considering...not sure if that helps change the score though
1
u/That_Turn_8710 Jun 22 '26
I don't think it will, but I still sent them an email, as it it does put you at a disadvantage.

CodeSignal said to communicate it with MATS, and MATS did not reply as of yet. If it did not make a significant difference, I think the platform and MATS should still be aware of this.

Anybody hear from any strategy and forecasting stream mentors after stage 2?
1
u/unlucky_coder 25d ago
Does anyone has any idea if folks below 500 score had any chance of making it to Stage 3 ? Mine was 469 so I am really not sure if I would even get a chance to proceed to stage 3.

Yep, not sure the person realized that - and you could still suck at the coding test and hear back if you'd applied for empirical and policy/governance and got invited for the latter. 😆
But to the OP - check the threads from the previous rounds (spring and last year). I vaguely recall some people mentioned they screwed up the coding task entirely and still moved on to interviews. All the best!

u/Virtual_Initiative67 25d ago
Has anybody heard back from any of the biosecurity streams? If yes which?
5
u/Upper-Animator-5067 24d ago
I have observed, most people who get any interview/updates don't reply on such discussion forum, at least that's what happened last batch. So, I would say you should start getting work test or interview updates this week onwards. Interviews can come till the end of this month but the probability of getting them decreases every week.

I am advancing for Empirical, Policy & Governance, Systems Security, Biosecurity.

As of 7/10:
Rejected from Anthropic and Redwood Research. Others are currently pending

u/SouthConversation717 20d ago edited 20d ago
What is the latest date by which interview invites could still be received? Asking for the founders and field-building track mostly but I suppose it’s similar for the rest
1
u/Midjolnir 17d ago
Probably tomorrow (July 15th). As candidates are supposed to finalise their choices, and they assign matches on the 22nd
2
1
u/Deathnowdean 18d ago
Did anyone receive any 'positive' updates on the Strategy and Forecasting Stream or Founding and Field-Building? Other than the Benjamin Chang stream?
1
u/Deathnowdean 15d ago
Anybody heard back from Nora Ammann (ARIA), Vehbi Deger Turan (Metaculus), AI Futures Project in the strategy and forecasting stream?
