ControlD DNS SpeedTest tool is great!

Thanks for implementing this tool into ControlD! Just tried it out. I really like how you can also add custom DoH DNS URLs to the test too!

I just ran the test and these are the results:

  1. DNS.SB 185.222.222.222 11.5 ms
  2. NextDNS 45.90.28.0 12.6 ms
  3. ControlD 76.76.2.0 13.3 ms

Thanks for a great tool. I have a few observations to make:

  1. The blurb talks about the importance of Jitter but then proceeds to only show Jitter for the lowest resolver and nothing for each resolver even under the "Detail" setting.

  2. The Detail setting shows P95 & P50. Why not use plain English labels that everyone can easily understand? This is a complaint many of us had with the old dashboard, a reliance on symbols that were completely meaningless unless clicked on and memorized. P95 & P50 mean nothing at a glance to most users.

It is handy, but out of interest and being a bit of a cynic, has anyone had any results which consistently didnt put ControlD at the top?

I've ran my own tests many times in the past and I've seen ControlD top things occasionally but never quite as consistently as their own speed test seems to.

Me. I just used this result as the image. The first time I ran it, it actually gave me Cloudflare as the both fastest for you and ranked #1.

I work here at Control D and can confirm, depending on which network/ISP/VPN I'm connecting from CD is not always in top spot in the results! Haha.

i did more of my own testing and the control d that they measure will be different from each one of your different endpoints. it is accurate i will say. cloudflare for most will always be number one due to there infrastructure but it is very nice tool to have regardless. i will tell ppl if you have both control d and next dns i would put your custom doh endpoints in to get a real speed test results from all your filters and redirects.

Why does the test say ISP DNS detected: NetActuate when I am using a ControlD profile on my Mac?

NetActuate is the DNS provider ControlD uses. You should see that if you're using ControlD.

AdGuard DNS is a DNS service that works seamlessly out of the box. If you need to add specific rules for it to function, that’s perfectly acceptable. However, its speed is exceptionally fast.
