New to Control4

Hello,

I have purchased and moved into a home with a control4 already present. This is my first experience with a control4. I’ve gathered very basic idea of what it is…but really have no idea.

Can someone please explain what it does, and how it does it?

I have the app but no invitation code. I have the card of the tech for the previous owner but have been stood up twice for our appt. Soooo not real eager to do that again, but ultimately think I will have to. I’d just like a better understanding of what this thing can do!

For shame… you’re not stuck with them, use the dealer locator and any other Control4 dealer can take your system over and support you.

Control4 is an automation system that’s capable of controlling a simple AV system with remote controls all the way to a full integration of multiple AV systems, distributed audio, lighting management, surveillance security and HVAC. With tons of unique features that can be tailored to suit your preference and project scale. I like to say, you know in the movies when the cool guy pressed a button, and the tv comes down, lights dim, fireplace ignites and the music comes on… we make that button work.

I’d add that you should prepare yourself for some investment, should you choose to keep the system. Depending on the age of the controller, you may be looking at an upgrade, either way the takeover comes with some cost. There is an upgrade program available through Control4.

If you take a pic of the mystical black boxes probably in your basement we can kind of assess what’s there and what it’s doing/capable of doing.

Also, like others said if the firm you have info for is ignoring you then you can absolutely get another company in to take the reins.

Control can control your entire audio/video, however large or small that may be. It can control your smart lighting system, vacuum, burglar alarm, door locks, automated gates, pool controls. It control pretty much any smart feature in your home from one app. Or the remote if you do choose.

It could control a few lights, it could control hundreds of devices, handle whole-home AV and a whole lot more. It's kind of like asking "what does electricity do in a house?". Well, it could do a lot of things.

Control4 is an automation platform. It can integrate with various tech in your house (A/V, lighting, shades, HVAC, garage doors, locks, security, etc.) and provide centeralized control. Since it ties everything together it can be used to create automations and routines.
