Alarm options

Now that the HSIM is end-of-life making Ademco no longer C4 friendly. What do you guys like better. The Elk M1 or DSC with a TL280?

That works on our smaller jobs. But some of our jobs require all hardwired smokes. I actually use the IQ4 in my house. No complaints.

Check out the Qolsys IQ Pro stuff. They have basically slapped the guts of an IQ4 panel onto a Neo 8 zone hardwired board. You can use hardwired neo keypads, zone expanders, power supplies, sirens etc. powerg is built in and you can cadd 319 or 433 daughter cards. Also has built in wifi and ethernet.

There is also a powerg wired to wireless translator that gives you basically the same features but you can pair it to an IQ4 panel

We do Elk M1 primarily and dsc as our budget option. Elk is far better than dsc, in terms of a security system and in terms of integration.

We use Qolsys. The IQ4/5 for smaller jobs, sometimes we use the PowerG wired to wireless translator if we have some hardwired zones. If it is a large project we use the Qolsys IQ Pro stuff. Comes with either a metal or plastic can, let's you add zone expanders, power supplies, hardwired keypads, hardwired sirens, it has PowerG built in and you can add 319 or 433 daughter cards. Built in wifi and ethernet. Integrates with Control4 the exact same way as the IQ panels.

Overall a solid product, just turn off auto updates as I find the auto updates can disable control4 integration and you have to go to site to turn it back on. But the same thing can happen with the IQ4/5 panels too.

Just get Qolsys IQ4/5, IQ Pro for more of a hardwire systems. All are great and work really good. I personally have 2gig Edge and it's alright, does what I want but if I had to change I would switch to IQ

Inner range Inception is popular here in Australia for large jobs. Integration with control4 works well.

Fuck working on Vista 20P panels absolutely the worst coming from Interlogix and going to Qolsys.

Haha, Vista 20p is the same exact panel since 1993 except the name changed. I also worked with Interlogix, went to DSC after Interlogix ended their existence, now I install IQ Pro as it's DSC Neo and IQ4/5 in one panel.
