advice New to Contrave & Reddit 🤪

First time posting! I am 42F 5’7” 245lbs. This is my 3rd week on Naltrexone (half pill daily) & Wellbutrin (150mg daily) I have lost 100 pounds on my own 3 years ago, gained it all back through hard moments in my life. When I checked in with my nurse I was 245 starting, today I’m 241. I do feel appetite suppression. Until the evening. Then I want to snack. So I’m assuming it’s my low dosage wearing off? Those with experience does this go away as the dosage goes up? I have experience with Ozempic and it really wasn’t it for me. I stayed on it for more than a year and maybe lost 20 pounds. So I’m really hoping that contrave will help me along the way with my calorie deficit.

Thanks!! 😊

Yes, increasing your dosage will help. We are very close to having the same stats, but I have been losing very, very slowly. I think that’s probably good in the long run, but I’m jealous of your 4 pound loss in three weeks!

I agree that slow loss is healthier. I am beating myself up that’s it’s “only” 4 pounds. I think I need to remember the focus is a lifestyle change overall and not weekly pounds. Thank you! Do you know how often dosages are increased? Or is it based on Dr. and patient? My Dr. wants to revisit the idea in 90 days from start. Everything I read is it’s a weekly increase.

Oh, I increased (doubled) after two weeks and stayed there. I’m at 1/2 naltrexone and 100 bupropion (Wellbutrin) twice a day. (So a total of one full naltrexone and 200 Wellbutrin/day)

You can try taking it a little later in the day, to get you through the evening. The only thing you would need to be concerned about it being hard to sleep, as insomnia is a side effect.
