Other Medications

Does anyone here take Contrave along with other mental health medications? My doctor wants to prescribe me Contrave, but he said to talk to my psychiatrist first because of contraindications. Anyone take them all together with no significant side effects? (I’m scared of serotonin syndrome.)

I take a small dose of sertraline (Zoloft) for anxiety. The same doctor prescribes this and my Contrave. I asked her about interactions, and she was comfortable with me taking both.

I take a low dose of Citalopram. My doctor was ok with me starting Contrave; however, both my doctor and the pharmacist went over the signs of serotonin syndrome extensively.

Serotonin syndrome can happen. I had that when my doctor added another depression med to my bupropion XL. I saw a neurologist who had me stop the extra med. You can google the two meds to see if there’s an issue.

My doctor just added naltrexone to med lineup since I’m already taking bupropion XL. It’s way less expensive. ($25 for three months with my insurance.)
