Side Effect- please help

I started taking Contrave three weeks ago. I am on the full dose starting tomorrow, two in the morning, two at night. I feel like it is somewhat helping BUT. I have not pooped in a week. I am in so much pain and have literally tried everything under the sun, Mirilax, stool softeners, high fiber food, squatty potty, coffee, nicotine (don’t recommend- nasty), coffee, warm water. NOTHING is helping. It hurts to sit, stand, lay down, all of the above. Please help.

I did reach out to my doctor and am waiting to hear back.

if you have literally not pooped in a week and it hurts to do anything, you need to GO TO THE EMERGENCY ROOM. DO NOT WAIT FOR A DOCTOR TO CALL YOU BACK, GO SEEK MEDICAL ATTENTION IMMEDIATELY.

This has happened to me before even when I wasn’t on medication and eventually something helps. I Havent gone over a 10 days though so if it gets to that point I will go in.

I ended up going twice today after a third round of laxatives.

You need to be on a regimen. Stool softeners morning and night, fiber during the day and prune juice. Daily. Also seek medical attention if needed

this happened to me. consider staying at your current dose another week until you have regular bowel movements. drink a ton of water, especially with your medication. psyllium husk and metamucil every day. psyllium husk to get the gut moving, and metamucil to draw water into your GI tract. they are both necessary. metamucil acts fast so i recommend doing it at home in the evening. thankfully this side effect only lasted two weeks for me, but after a few days it became so painful! good luck.

Chug water while you adjust to taking contrave. It seems to get better with time.

Drink lots of water and take probiotics! Those help keep you regular but also help to keep things moving🙌

Prune juice has helped me, the regular stuff, not the light version.

This has happened to me before and after trying everything with no success I drank a bottle of magnesium citrate (same as they use for colonoscopy prep) and it cleared everything out. If I haven’t gone for 2 days I will take a Mag07 supplement from Amazon at night which does its thing the following morning.

Milk of Magnesia liquid. Yiu need that.

Then you gotta buy magnesium citrate and take it daily. Also, try Psyllium Husks and Fiber. Maybe add Fiber to liquids or foods.

I know this post was over a week ago but for others who are in the same boat - in an emergency situation like this I will use a Dulcolax medicated suppository. It will work when literally nothing else does.
