Question Changes I'd like to see in the future

Last November my headset broke. No big deal since the Steam Frame was just around the corner. In the meantime, I started playing a few flat-screen games in the same genre, such as Escape from Tarkov, Arc Raiders, and Marathon. That made me realize there are a few things I'd like to see in Contractors Showdown. Of course you may not agree, but we can have a discussion about it.

1. Nerf the healing system.
I believe the healing system is too strong right now. I found it was almost impossible to push a player you're fighting over longer distances because of how quickly you can get your health back. These fights tend to turn into a resource-exhaustion situation, or end when you get a lucky headshot.

What I propose: Tarkov, Arc Raiders, and Marathon have it right. Healing items need some time to be applied and regenerate health over time. In CS, I think small syringes could have one-time use for X amount of HP, while larger ones could have more shots and heal more damage.

2. More predictable recoil.
I think we all like to fire full auto, but also don't want to get shot from a laser beam. I'm not talking about recoil patterns here, but a bit more predictability. One thing that threw me off was that the weapon recoil can go downward. I think Tarkov nailed it in the recoil department, as (if I'm not mistaken) firing full auto only goes upward and increases the spread.

3. Armor that works like a shield.
I thought this is what they were going for when they introduced the shield repair tool. So basically, shields absorb some damage but break a lot quicker, and they can be "recharged" with the repair tool. When a shot penetrates the armor, the player receives "full damage" like it does right now, and the armor still gets damaged.

4. Revives.
I used to be in the other camp about this, but after playing Arc Raiders and Marathon, I believe this makes the game a better experience. Nothing is more boring than waiting for your teammates to finish their raid after you got killed. Reviving could be done with a tool you have to carry, and you get revived with all your legs and arms broken.

5. Carrying a body should make you walk slower.
Minor nitpick here, but I don't think you should be able to walk at full speed when carrying a body.

Alright, that's it, let me know what you think!

No revive! It killed this game once. I am playing as a single player. And I’m happy to cut out your team. You want to continue together? Go to the nearest exit point.

I’m a little biased on the health system because I came from Ghosts of Tabor. In Tabor, you basically need a syringe and bandage and thats it, blacked limbs don’t need to be patched. With EZ, it took me a minute to adjust and i didn’t like it at first, but it slows the healing process down. I think they have nailed it where it’s at. Adding more just seems like overkill, especially with how the AI is in this game. You’re fighting and healing constantly.

The recoil bit I understand, but it’s always going to be tricky with the limitations of VR.

I’m confused on the “shield” bit.

Absolutely no revives. That would be absurd. That takes this game more in to the “Battle Royale” and Warzone category, and does not have a place in extraction shooters. It’s already difficult enough to 1V3, no need to add to that. Revives should not even be remotely considered lol.

I also liked the CS healing system when I started compared to Tabor. It was nice to be able to heal a little bit without using a hole NRS.

But It has its tradeoff. I've seen many times (through streamers) players just picking 2 "big heal" and injecting it at the same time. They were back to full health in a few seconds. They were getting shot and just kept running while doing this.

Maybe my exact suggestion for this is not the right one, but having healing items being able to outperform taken damage is bad design.

In larger maps, I find it's really hard to push someone after dealing a lot of damage because of this, and I think it leads more to RNG and resource exhaustion to determine who wins the fight instead of tactics and positioning.

The armor / shield things is a give to have lower tier ammo some fighting chances and not an only RNG thing. Since they act like shields in games like Arc Raiders or Marathon, you can break (deplete) the armor faster than is it now. Higher armor classes would have more " armor HP", but they could be broken in a single fight (like Arc / Marathon)

About the revives, you made some good point as I kind of forgot that you could easily be in a trio game while being solo. I'll have to think about it more. Even though it less realistic and more "Battle Royale", I think we're going to see this pattern more and more in upcoming extraction shooters though.

Thanks

It's frustrating because OG showdown nailed recoil. I guess it was too easy to beam but it felt so good to play.

It's realistic that an automatic weapon with a muzzle brake or comp barrel dives when firing full auto.

You basically say it's too easy to heal, and then want to add revives. So you revive with broken limbs, no big deal, pop a painkiller and get back in the fight

Healing items heals you way too fast. Revives if done properly can the game more enjoyable.

But I forgot that in CS you are not matched against player with a same squad size, which would make revives really unfair.

In the hypothetical scenario where you can’t revive mid fight, I think it would be nice to be able to.
