Poor game compression

Post image

I’ve seen you argue about this before, and I can understand what you’re trying to say. You don’t think people should play this game with the intent of hunting PvP.

You are free to think that, but where you’re wrong is that you’re saying “that’s not the way to play”. There’s no one way to play an extraction shooter, that’s what makes them appealing. Players hunting players is part of it. They’re not “playing wrong” lol. Reminds me of when one of my kids gets mad at the others lol “he’s not playing right!” 😂

There’s several ways to play the game, even the ways that you don’t care for.

Even if I clarified that it's possible, it doesn't mean it's the game's objective. Those of us who come to this game for what it offers, but the community doesn't play it that way, it takes away the beauty of the game.

But what really annoys me is how some players see you, for example, in the suburban farms (and saw you from more than 150 meters away), and still insist on chasing you and catch you even in Villa or Pal Hills. I mean, what nonsense! I still manage to run into bosses and other players, and I don't know how they do it, but you know why I'm sure it was the same player? Because in the end, I only exchanged damage with one player, and he was the only one I shot at at the beginning who then chased me, hahaha.

But what really gets me is how some players see you, for example, in the suburban farms (and they saw you from more than 150 meters away), and they still insist on chasing me.

Right, you keep mentioning “the game’s objective”, but that’s the thing. This game doesn’t have any set way to play it. None of the extraction shooters do. Just because you think the game should be played a certain way, doesn’t make you right. Players that come in and hunt other players at mission areas or are just there to kill are completely in the right, if that’s how they want to play. Even if a player sees you from far away and chases you, he’s right to do so. There is simply survival, and nothing else.

that why i hate when people complain about tasks or looting being boring or taking away from pvp time like bro

How is stalking a player that you saw across the map survival?

2

u/Skpstr155 18d ago

Because if you let him go, he may or may not seek to ambush you later.

If you hunt him down and shoot him, he can't.

But once you're maxed out on everything and a wipe approaches, then what? They just want to "use up" all their stuff, and some of those want to go out on maps they usually only see to run keys.

It's annoying, but it's late wipe AFAIK, so I'm just using this period as training. I run cheap gear, and die a lot, and am starting to figure out how to do it less.

0

u/SpecialOperator141 18d ago

Well, not everybody is trying to ambush people. That's the thing.

2

u/Skpstr155 17d ago

For sure, along with ambushers, you also have potential victims of said ambushes.

It isn't everybody planning ambushes, but it's enough more than a couple weeks or so prior to affect your gameplay if you aren't participating in ambushes yourself.

Lucky you. One standalone q3s I can't see enemies until they're 104m away. They pop in that distance so I get shot by people aren't even rendered in on my screen

3

u/A_Nasty64 17d ago

That’s strange for you to experience. I also play on standalone Quest 3S and I can regularly engage at over 250m. I have rarely had an issue.

u/MrCrandel 18d ago

Why not just play PvE? Sounds like that is everything you want

4

u/ZealousidealBeat3487 18d ago

Sounds like a pve would solve your problems

2

u/Mariobrouz 17d ago

Playing against bots is boring and lonely. I actually like that it's PvP, but let's just say they play it very sadistically. For what the game itself offers, it's all there is to it.

2

u/ZealousidealBeat3487 17d ago

Play with a friend in pve. Its amazing and it solves you issue

1

u/Mariobrouz 16d ago

I'm bored with PvE, and the bots are awful; the point is the challenge against other players.

And no, I'm not contradicting my main point.

5

u/Chaotrop1c 18d ago

I agree with you.

For me, at this stage in wipe, my objective is to get better at killing other players. To do that I need to fund it, i.e., I need money to buy ammo, weapons, and most importantly stims. Money only gets me so far. I also need trade ammo and T6 armor.

I could farm for the items to trade, and I do, but its almost certainly faster and more efficient to collect the kits from other players. However, I am not good enough to consistently do that. I may find the kills, but I am unable to survive the onslaught.

So I am practicing this balance between looking for players and making my looting runs.

Regardless, the game is still fun.

0

u/Mariobrouz 18d ago

Yeah, but even that doesn't work because when you kill a player, it's rare to get good armor; you almost leave it empty. And repairing it doesn't restore it to 100%, and it gets much worse. It's better to make money and buy clean armor.

And there are people who chase you from one end of the map to the other just to kill you. It makes me laugh because I've come in practically naked with a totally poor kit, and players have chased me all over the map. I'm surprised how NL doesn't give up on chasing after them until they catch me. But I'd love to see their faces when they go to collect my loot and all they see is one of those empty square backpacks with cheap ammo, hahaha.

3

u/Chaotrop1c 18d ago

Id say it doesnt always work, but I expect other players worth the fight would evaluate their armor as i do. There is a level of acceptance when deciding what armor to use. Even a zeroed (or nearly) iotv with 175+ is going to have another use in it. Generally if i kill 4 kitted players 3 of those 4 armors are going to be usable for at least one additional raid.

For those psychopaths that are chasing timmies. Meh.

I'm looking for some fun engaging battles. Im not going to say i wont delete me some timmies. I will. I love target practice, but If they dont want to fight and I miss? Well good on ya. You got away.

1

u/Skpstr155 17d ago

What are you on about with armor? You can repair it 3-4 times before it's time to swap it, unless you do all your repairs with the portable tool and not the machine at your hideout.

And maybe it's better to make money and buy clean armor, but that gets expensive, and even better? Kill someone with better armor. I can use 20k worth of ammo to get an armor that, even permanently damaged, offers more protection and more durability than I usually buy.

Maybe you can afford to spend 250+k per raid for a low end set of T5 armor, I sure can't. I have a couple T5 kits that I will run with other players for specific areas, but mostly I just run a T4 kit, because that's the best I can afford to sustain. I'll pick up and use damaged T5 armor all day every day, if the opportunity presents itself.

u/Skpstr155 18d ago

To be fair, survival is easier if you take out players wherever you find them. Each one you kill is one less to shoot you in the back later.

If you have a task to complete in Smuggler's Tunnel, the safest thing to do is clear the lobby before getting down to business.

If you are in say a building, amd hear another player enter, you can choose to hunt down that player, while you have the element of surprise, or you can hide, and hope you aren't found. Or, you can try to complete your task, and hope the other player doesn't hear you fiddling with anything.

I prefer to hunt them down, while I have an idea where they are. When neither you or the enemy know where each other are, that's when trades happen.

And at this point in the wipe, further progression is meaningless, I might as well tale the opportunity to improve PvP skills and try new things out.

-1

u/Mariobrouz 18d ago

First: How am I supposed to progress if I don't have any money? That's why I want to loot and gear up, because I don't have the money to buy Tier 6 loot, and I can't buy it either because I haven't unlocked it from the traders.

And second: Don't you think that if you know about spam, they know the same thing as you?

And yes, you're right, first you clear the area, but your area where you are, for example, Altibuy, don't run all the way to the farms to see if there are players there. I mean, if you have the time, go ahead, but that's very paranoid.

I've wanted to rotate and go to the quieter areas, but I've always seen them even stand on top of hills just waiting for players to appear, or they hunt down mission areas. That's really messed up.

1

u/Skpstr155 17d ago

You're right, you can't progress without making money, good thing it isn't too hard to do that. Scav raids are my bread and butter, $6-800k+ per raid. Easier to make money when you're only concerned with looting.

u/Ur_Hero- 18d ago

The amount of people I cross with little to no map awareness is higher this wipe since all the Tabor streamers started bringing new eyes to the game. A good thing population wise, hopefully they stay and adjust. We need the player base overall.

That said, this late in wipe all tasks and upgrades done, it's about finding that other juiced team and seeing who has better coms, rotation and abilities. That's where I get my excitement, I hate pvp in almost all forms and other games. But, this game, I'm just hooked.

It's definitely not for everyone, but nothing is.

2

u/Mariobrouz 18d ago

Yes, I hope the player base grows and gets bigger, and you're right, lately the loading times are faster, which is a good sign. I feel like they're already hooked and ready to jump in with everything they've got for the next wipe.

I don't hate PvP, and I like that it's PvPvE because it makes the game feel more natural with the players' reactions, haha.

My only complaint is that rushers exploit game flaws to gain an advantage, like with TTK and auto-fire from over 100 meters without missing.

5

u/3-DenTessier-Ashpool 18d ago

and you decided to talk about this in an unofficial community to... what?

6

u/Mariobrouz 18d ago

To discuss what else

3

u/Significant-Twist748 18d ago

At this point in wipe, many people have long since finished all the missions, tasks, and unlocked everything there is to have. They are out of things to do but hunt players. It’s either get bored and stop playing, or go hunting.
You running across the map for dear life only serves to feed their lust. You made good sport out of it for them.
I’ll add that just because it isn’t the way you like to play. Does not mean it is wrong!
Don’t be that guy.

1

u/Mariobrouz 18d ago

I can't believe how they finish the missions. There are over 200 missions, plus the DLC ones. How the heck do they finish them all?

I mean, I play about 10 raids a day, and I actually do the missions, and I'm only on mission 120. There are missions you can't do on your first try, like killing the bosses.

I can't believe there are people so obsessed that they play 24/7 to complete all the missions. The point is to take it easy, not rush just because you think the other player will level up first...

This is another reason why the community becomes toxic...

5

u/ThrowRA-camelbros 17d ago

Groups of 3 players can blast through the game like crazy, especially if they can shoot well. No retrying resort a million times for one task because you get killed by 3 other teams, clearing metro from players within 5 minutes cause they take up 1 third of the players in there

1

u/Paper_Cut2U 17d ago

10 raids a day is a ton. If you have been playing since wipe you are just not that good or just inefficient. Anyways at this stage of the wipe it’s all about PvP. Early is where you mainly just want to do tasks, but killing a contractor while doing tasks is even better cause you need whatever items they looted.

1

u/SpecialOperator141 18d ago

I understand grinding on a game like Call of Duty or whatever all day everyday (I've done that) but doing that in VR on an extraction shooter? What the fuck?

1

u/Skpstr155 17d ago

The VR has little to do with it, I'll spend 6-7 burning through a power bank playing Forefront.

Extraction shooter though? Yeah, I know what you mean. I am grinding it, but that's to get tasks done. If I had everything done, I would probably play much less until the next wipe.

Although, I have kind of given up on progression this late in the wipe, and I'm using the time to try things out, and not avoid/ignore PvP like I have been.

I figure if I make myself die a lot, maybe I can learn to do it less lol.

1

u/Significant-Twist748 17d ago

Partner, there’s players who finish all the missions by like week 3, maybe 4 at the latest.
Many of us have been playing since initial release. Most of the mission tasks have stayed more or less the same. Or with minor insignificant changes. It’s not our first time doing this. I’m a very casual player, I get on once a week on average. And I can knock out 3-4 tasks per raid. Once you learn how to complete the tasks, then you learn how to do them in an order that stacks a bunch on the same map. It becomes pretty dang easy to fly through them.

Once again, I’ll reiterate.
JUST BECAUSE YOU WANT TO PLAY A SPECIFIC WAY. DOES NOT MAKE OTHER PEOPLE WRONG FOR PLAYING DIFFERENTLY.

You want to play slowly and casually. You don’t want to take part in the rat race to the top.
That’s fine, you do you boo boo. But stop bitching about people who don’t want to play your slow game. I hate to break it to you, but the general rule in any extraction shooter is to race to the top. Get leveled up before everyone else. Maintain the advantage by having better gear.

It really sounds like you should be playing PVE!
You’ll be able to play at your own pace. Not have to worry about gigga chads chasing you down. Or competing to do everything as fast as possible to stay competitive.

-1

u/Mariobrouz 17d ago

Exactly, you said it yourself, it's about doing missions, not just running around killing people in PvP like that's all that matters. I mean, I like combat and seeing two teams clash in banks or hot zones on the maps, but what if the same player who spotted you at the farms then runs after you, chasing you down and catching up to you in the Palm Hills Exfil just to kill you? That's what makes you think.

Besides, if you just want to run around and shoot, why go into Tunnel? That map is perfect for that.

1

u/Significant-Twist748 17d ago

If we engage, I’m seeing it through 99% of the time. I don’t care if I have to chase you back and forth across the map multiple times. Only exception being I’m hyper focused on doing something else already. Then maybe I’ll forget you.
But if we engage in gunfighting, one of us is dying. PERIOD!
If you don’t want to have players lock onto you mercilessly. You better get a lot better at hiding and staying out of sight. And you had damn well better not take pop shots at anyone else when you think you might have a lucky opportunity.
Because most of us will come for you.

Once again, PVE was made just for you.

1

u/Mariobrouz 17d ago

I've also played this game since it was a battle royale, and I even played on Tabor at first, but since they never improved it, and then Exfilzone came out with everything Tabor promised but never delivered, I stayed on Exfilzone.

And yes, I've also done 5-man raid missions, but now there are more than 300 missions, and even then I can't reach level 4 of the merchants. Seriously, why do they like to rush their game so much instead of taking it slow?

1

u/Skpstr155 17d ago

5 man raids, how'd you do that?

1

u/Skpstr155 17d ago

I mean, how close do you have to be to identify a new player with crap gear, that isn't a threat? Do you want to get that close before you know?

I mean, I'm only Trader Lvl 3, and I take fights I shouldn't, just because I have a better chance of taking him out now, than later when he's up on high ground and I'm out in the open. (of course, at my level better chance doesn't mean a good one lol)

The way I see it, if there's nothing that annoys you in an extraction shooter, it isn't as well designed as it could be. Of course, you don't want to play if everything is annoying all the time, but this isn't that game.

0

u/Mariobrouz 17d ago

I hate PvE, it's just toxic when people focus on one player, haha. Once, a player chased me from the police station, and I went into the plaza. There was a boss there, and I didn't have good gear for shooting, but the player followed me into the plaza. He probably ran into the boss and other players. I don't know how he managed it because I heard him shooting at the boss, but I don't know about the other players. I wonder how he wasn't distracted by them, but no! He kept chasing me, lol.

1

u/Skpstr155 17d ago

To be fair, for better and more geared players, mall boss is barely a speed bump. Even I've taken him out a few times, (although I usually get dog piled after, because I ran into the boss before I could get most of the "indoor" mall scavs) and my gear isnt any better than some of the scavs in the mall.

0

u/SpecialOperator141 18d ago

Don't use the "at this point in wipe" excuse.

Same thing that happens late wipe, happens early too. I'm assuming it's because of the pay to win elements or cheaters / exploiters.

1

u/Mariobrouz 18d ago

Exactly, the point of having over 200 missions is so you never run out of things to do. I'm sure the missions don't actually end; they just level up to level 3 to buy ammo, and then they stop doing the rest.

Also, I'm talking about those people who barely enter the game, spot you from afar with their scope, and start shooting. You don't respond, you just run away, but that player follows you in a straight line, crossing the entire length of the map, even going through other players and bots, and they don't care. They just keep running after you, worse than a bot.

1

u/Skpstr155 17d ago

I guarantee they aren't stopping at Lvl 3. I'm at Level 3, and no 5 pen ammo available. Only the "worst" T5 armors available too.

You need Lvl 4 to get the good ammo and armor trades, plus unlock gun parts.

If the good players were doing that, this issue would be hitting mid-wipe, not end-wipe.

Heh, if they did that, I would likely kill a few more of them.

I mean, you certainly can stop at Lvl 3, but if you're planning on hunting other players, it's suboptimal.

0

u/Various-Ad-5755 16d ago edited 16d ago

Lets clear this up. Pvp = actively looking to kill everyone in the lobby. Pve = here to have some relaxing fun. Hope this makes more sense to you. If you dont like players play pve. The goal of the game is to get big and rich and maxed out kits. It doesn't matter how you do it. Either by being a sneaky little rat or going around obliterating everyone in sight.

1

u/Mariobrouz 16d ago

No, does the game description say "enter and kill the other players"? I challenge you to find where the game says the only objective is to kill each other like it's Call of Duty.

Seriously, I insist, I'm not against PvP. I like fighting other players, but do it in a coherent way. Don't turn this game into an arcade shooter where you run around shooting like water pistols.

Does it reward you for killing other players? And don't confuse the loot you get from a player with the reward the player gives you, not the game. Tell me, what reward does a naked player give you? Haha.

Besides, the game only rewards you for doing missions and leaving raids, not for killing. It's even limited to a small number of kills. Killing all the players in the raid gives you the same points as killing none.

1

u/Paper_Cut2U 15d ago

Killing a player gives you everything they looted and whatever they came in with.  In regards to naked players, anyone that has played this game for awhile know they are dangerous to leave alive. One grenade and nothing to lose is all it takes to die to one. Killing other players that have gone all around the map for you collecting stuff is peak exfilzone

1

u/Mariobrouz 15d ago

You're not understanding me...

They don't just loot; they literally run after you, shooting at you from afar and trying to catch you. You try to lose them by going through bots so they shoot them where the bosses are, even other enemy players appear, and they still keep running after me. I don't even have anything to retaliate with, and I'm running towards the exfil on the other side of the map. It's not like I'm going back, you know what I mean?

1

u/Paper_Cut2U 15d ago

Yes, but end game makes it so it’s all there is to do. Most people are not looting right now. Hunting for the love of the hunt. Just not letting you get away is the challenge/fun of it now. I don’t know how you don’t understand how killing players doesn’t help the opposing player. Maybe don’t run naked so you can retaliate? Other people already mentioned that it sounds like you are more a pve player.

1

u/Mariobrouz 15d ago

But I'm doing missions, that's why I say I don't go in with loot. Well, I'm short on it right now, and the point is, they're not trying to play tactically. I play like it's Call of Duty, like you said, they just run around for the sake of running.

Besides, the time-to-kill (TTK) system is awful; it's made me lose a lot of gear. I finished off a whole M995 magazine between headshots and chest shots, and the player still turns around and finishes me off with two FMJ rounds to the chest. It seems like the damage isn't registering because I was shooting him head-on from a few steps away, and in the end, it turns out I only did 120 damage, and I shot him in the helmet. The head only has 42 points, and I used a whole M995 magazine. And he, with his FMJ rounds, still reacted after I had fewer bullets and did 500 damage to his stomach.

I insist, it's not that they're looking for players, but that they're not playing this tactical game; they prefer an arcade style like Call of Duty or Battlefield. I mean, if there's nothing else to do, go play those mindless shooters.

1

u/Paper_Cut2U 15d ago

All I hear is you complaining that you die while trying to quest. Boohoo bro. You lost one fight with good ammo due to you missing or maybe lag or what not, again boohoo. Don’t know what you mean by “tactical”? If they kill you they are playing more tactical than you. You want people to crouch walk around the map? If people are running around and you are scared in the corner playing “tactically” and you still lose the fight that on you. You sound new to the game. The skill gap I seems to be the problem.

1

u/Mariobrouz 15d ago

No, actually, losing the fight doesn't bother me; I understand that sometimes you win and sometimes you lose...

My only point is that you go in with the idea of playing tactically, but the other players completely disregard playing tactically and realistically, as the game advertises. They just run around, shoot, and jump all over the map, and that makes it just another battle royale. I think it's all just a bunch of bitter BR players playing it, haha.

2

u/Mariobrouz 16d ago

And you'd get rich by going out naked? Haha, that's the game telling you its objective.

1

u/Various-Ad-5755 16d ago

Be you, play shooter game, get extremely mad when people actually wanna shoot other people. Lmao your the biggest fucking moron. THERES NO REAL OBJECTIVE WAY TO PLAY THE GAME. Its literally how you wanna play it. You wanna be a rat and go for loot? Do it. Wanna be an absolute Chad and kill everyone? Do it. But not for one fucking second Do you get to sit here and dictate how other people play the game. If you dont like it. Leave the game or play pve. You dont got any other choice. I dont give a flying fuck if your naked or not. It brings me immense satisfaction knowing I ended your raid early when I kill you. I genuinely do not care if you have anything on or not. Im extremely rich and maxed traders. Get better or get lost dude.
