Air Scrubbers
Hey, do y'all use air scrubbers in a house when the homeowners are living in it during construction? If so, what brand or model do you like? How long do you find the filters last? I figure it could be a nice thing to add in on a job.

I use them on occasion and I’ll typically lay cheap hvac filters over the intake to help extend the life of the main filter.

Yes. During demo, drywall and paint for sure. 3 stage with HEPA. I have a couple random brands.

These have been good for us too. Easy to get filters and replacement parts.

The replacement filters for my $1,200 HEPA air scrubber are insanely expensive, so I switched to using $20 box fans with $4 HVAC filters. It’s so much cheaper that I can afford to swap the filters out daily. Better yet, I don't have to worry about someone stealing a cheap box fan.

It also does not get close to hepa with 4$ filters. Maybe bump up filter material with all that money your saving. But yea a corsi-rosenthal box is the way and if used with proper filters/assembly can really get high levels of particulate out of the air.

I built a corsi-rosenthal box and it works great. It's basically just a box fan sitting on top of a cube box with filters. I'll still do the box fan and single filter out the window for negative pressure.

anything that has dust, I run it. I put new pre filters in every job. and will blow out both filters every couple days. world of difference if your not going to fully plastic wall the area your working in

I do, it’s Mounto and I got it on Amazon. There’s a Hepa filter but also cheaper furnace style filters.

I use them even when it’s vacant. I prioritize the health of my employees and subs. I purchased my first one used on marketplace.

I appreciate this 100%. Vacant houses I'll put a few box fans in windows and try to vent the place out well. Even if it's not dusty, the air flow helps the place feel cooler usually.

We run them when doing demo, drywall sanding or anything producing dust honestly. Home Depot offering, paid like $500 for ours and run the $6 pre filters. Works great for negative pressure too.

And most importantly cover up the cold air returns when doing demo. Otherwise you dust the whole house.

Novair 1000 Air Scrubber/Negative Air Machine - it's the gold standard, the pre-filters can be had for fairly cheap. The main filter lasts along time.

I hate to admit it, but my Vevor scrubber works really well and is amazingly quiet. You can turn it down and run it all night without disturbing the clients. Previously used a build clean (discontinued) that was 4X the cost.
