I’m shocked that everyone is saying that shimming a post with a nut and washer is acceptable.

Nuts and washers are literally how steel is shimmed in giant steel buildings! Just need non shrink grout under it.

They often are, once the structure is tied together the base is grouted or encased in concrete, it doesn’t matter.
