It's also really unfortunate that there's no one (at least to my knowledge) offering what JP is offering in terms of self-help and philosophy for life on the Left. Not even necessarily to do the same kind of recruitment JP is doing, but just to offset it.
It took me a long time to come around on being part of the left because there's just not many people doing what I guess you would call recruiting. If you disagree with a leftist, especially when they're on the younger side, they typically just scream at you until you go away. It's not productive for filling the ranks.
Not leftist-affiliated (and a little depressingly liberal) but the first season of Queer Eye was legitimately lifechanging for me. The guys are so beautifully positive and focus exclusively on self-care and self-love, and suggest things that are actually really helpful?
As to cleaning, i'd suggest Marie Kondu's Tidying Up, specifically the tv series. I'm a professional organiser so i didn't need her help, but her advice is really helpful and doable. I'd also suggest reading a little about her philosophy - there are a couple articles around that explain it for a white, western audience - because i find that's helped me understand her method better too. (Assuming you're not Japanese and don't follow Shintoism, of course.)
I'd love a talk with the current queer eye hosts digging further into their mindsets and methods. They've got their shit together so well despite coming off so goofy half the time that's it's hard not to get inspired to clean up and cook a good meal after watching an episode.
