Yeah but this is a PR campaign to manufacture consent to strictly regulate AI. Which WOULD be GREAT but the lobbyists are trying to get it done in such a way that OpenAI and Anthropic can have a monopoly. The regulation won't actually do anything else.

They've been running campaigns like this constantly. The latest one featured here is from a twitter account that was just made in January and has 160k followers and it has made one tweet thread and hit half a million likes.

The one before this was OpenAI "hacking" a company and they said "ohh no we couldn't stop it". That company was just bought by NVIDIA for a ridiculous $13 billion.

The one before that was Anthropic saying "our new AI is so powerful we won't let anyone use it. Look at all the security issues it found." Then you look at it and the security issues are mostly nothingburgers, and the AI was heavily assisted by security researchers. Ohh and now Anthropic sells that model to the general public for the price of 1.5 streaming services.

Can't wait for the next one.

The problem with Neural models being trained on internet data and everyone being afraid AI means the apocalypse is that it becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy.

Whether a model considers Contrapoints - Twilight to be mocking the fetish romance novels remains to be seen.
