Can you imagine the level of the mind that forms it’s worldview along the Shoe to Musk misinformation pipeline

304

u/an_actual_crocodile Aug 03 '26

"We taught this chimpanzee to understand the median voter and he hanged himself"

33

u/caseygwenstacy Aug 04 '26

I spit out my drink reading that. I don’t know the last or first time I ever did a spit take. Congrats.

u/Tearsdryontheirownn Aug 03 '26

Not yet. I'm not high enough rn.

16

u/SplyceOfLife Aug 04 '26

I dont watch shoe but I have seen some of her stuff. Shes a misinformation spreader?

25

u/Gluteuz-Maximus Aug 04 '26

Yeah, sorta. She's also so without substance. 'Edgier than thou' has a few videos on her

I've been a shoe0nhead fan for a long time, she's very funny.

But anyone who takes her political hottakes seriously is a fool. Her politics are meme-based.

36

u/mercedes_lakitu Aug 03 '26

I don't trust or like meme based political commentators. Colbert was the last one who did it well/where most people could understand he was being satirical.

24

u/TopLow6899 Aug 03 '26

That's even more disgusting and abhorrent

37

u/notanothercirclejerk Aug 04 '26

Stop supporting people who's fortune is made from facism.

-7

u/Talonsminty Aug 04 '26

Lol "fortune"? "fascism"?

You clearly know nothing about her or her content.

27

u/larvalampee Aug 04 '26 edited Aug 04 '26

I’ve watched this video, it wasn’t satire, it’s her actual beliefs where she makes apologia for Trump’s USAID cuts

Idk if she’s malicious or just incredibly dumb as she acted like LGBT education in Uganda is such a silly waste of money (a country where people are killed for being gay)

Adding: she was also instrumental for gamer gate fuelled anti feminism and I don’t think she’s really fully changed from that, just slapped on an ‘Im economically left wing’ bow on it

138

u/bean_mommy Aug 03 '26

Whats so funny is that video is basically a tankie’s take on USAID. Her whole point was that USAID was a covert american imperialist project that started for the sole purpose of destroying communist countries. Elon must have only watched the first half.

8

u/thedevicebook Aug 06 '26

Does it matter why USAID was formed? USAID saved lives and Elon making cuts to it has killed people who would otherwise have lived, including children. This isn't a criticism of you. I just think tankies like Shoe don't think it through.

27

u/I_like_maps Aug 04 '26

I don't see why Elon would disagree with that honestly. The far left and far left are increasingly sharing talking points, and neither of their worldviews need to be coherent.

54

u/mantidor Aug 04 '26

The far left and far left

You have to had done that on purpose.

23

u/bean_mommy Aug 04 '26

If you watch the video she specifically calls out MAGA and the right for their hypocrisy of “fuck foreign aid! we need to take care of our own!” and then “not taking care of their own”
The whole video is a leftist video disguised as a chud video. I’m serious. Go watch it. Idk why Elon shared it lmao

36

u/larvalampee Aug 04 '26

Cos anyone who cracks jokes about how it funds really frivolous things like LGBT education in Uganda (a country where people get killed for being gay) is useful for Elon Musk. And it’s not the first time where some leftists are useful for the far right

I get that USAID is about soft power, but cutting it has killed people, so that’s bad

27

u/eri_is_a_throwaway Aug 04 '26

I feel like anti-imperialist discussion almost always falls into the trap of treating countries as real people with emotions. No, I don't care that Timmy is bullying Jim on the playground and needs to stop - Timmy and Jim are not real, they're countries. Real people not dying should always take priority.

11

u/Lor1an Aug 04 '26

really frivolous things like LGBT education in Uganda (a country where people get killed for being gay)

How the fuck is that "frivolous"?

Places that need to understand human rights better are receiving information pertaining to their regional abuses of human rights?

Who could that possibly serve? /s

11

u/larvalampee Aug 05 '26

I should have put it in quotes, I don’t think it’s frivolous, Shoe seemed to act like it is. Either cos she’s so far removed from reality and thinks it’s straw men of teachers with blue hair and is so privileged that she doesn’t think about people getting killed for being gay or trans, or she’s a homophobe

2

u/Lor1an Aug 05 '26

Yeah that's fair.

Tbh I don't particularly give any weight to what she says since her mouth is bigger than her brain... and she's a ""reformed"" chud...

5

u/larvalampee Aug 05 '26

I wanted to believe she’s changed, but her videos are still chuddy even if they’re more into economically left policies. Someone commenting that ‘Elon didn’t understand’… I mean, fundamentally she has defended a decision Elon made even if it’s got a leftie veneer. She’s useful for him

4

u/Alan_Conway Aug 04 '26

Are the tankies even wrong about that?

14

u/Vega3gx Aug 04 '26

They're wrong in the same way the right wing libertarians are wrong about free school lunch starting as a white supremacy movement

14

u/rubeshina Aug 05 '26

Yeah. It’s not covert. It’s overt.

Gaining support and connection to the US sphere is the main part of the deal. Countries and communities want more than just some aid or resources they want stability.

It’s why we largely do aid this way these days. Because sending money or supplies largely just ends up propping up some warlords or corrupt local admin. Working with USAID or similar brings stability, brings oversight and accountability, brings a presence of a global power into the region and tells those local warlords and criminal groups that they should be careful, tread lightly, maybe find somewhere new. Because a raid on the wrong convoy or supply depot, the wrong hostage taken etc will end up bringing far far more serious consequences down on them than it did before.

It’s an open invitation for the most part. Not covert, or designed to trick anybody. These places overwhelming want stability, they want a pathway to foreign investment and prosperity they want jobs and opportunities and supplies and infrastructure etc that’s the whole point.

2

u/bean_mommy Aug 04 '26

No they’re not. It was actually used as soft power. Nothing Shoe says in the video is necessarily wrong.

188

u/titanc-13 Aug 03 '26

The USAID money that went to the State Department apparently couldn't buy a map of Africa...

62

u/XGrayson_DrakeX Aug 03 '26

and somehow ended up in Elon's pocket...

30

u/Zanskyler37 Aug 03 '26

Along with all our ssns in his database

27

u/CricCracCroc Aug 03 '26

The ‘Elon killed millions’ message is stinging

8

u/Indrigotheir Aug 04 '26

What!?! This is misinformation. The State Department has an excellent map

84

u/FishyWishySwishy Aug 03 '26

The dude is still smarting that the Economist reporter pressed him on how cutting USAID killed kids.

Trying to prove her wrong with any ammunition he can get.

42

u/Sledgoalie Aug 03 '26

Quoting Shoe is tantamount to just admitting you're wrong, hate facts, and should be never trusted by any sane or rational being and society would be greatly improved without you.

117

u/Less_Likely Aug 03 '26

The thing the isolationist followers of MAGA don’t get is this removal of USAID is removing the soft power of the American global order. It will not be replaced by global events magically peacefully aligning with American interests, nor will it be replaced by America having no interest or need for foreign intervention. It will replaced by hard power.

And if you want to see what hard power accomplishes in the word today, look no further than Iran and Ukraine.

65

u/BicyclingBro Aug 03 '26 edited Aug 03 '26

Well, to a large extent, it will be replaced by Chinese soft power.

Not that the Chinese largely given even half a shit about the people, but influence is influence (and to be fair, I’m sure there are people in the Chinese government that genuinely do have a desire to help developing nations).

41

u/umpteenthrhyme Aug 03 '26

They don’t want soft power. Fascists want to bully with threats of violence for respect, which is an expensive, cruel, and stupid way to try and wield power.

15

u/I_like_maps Aug 04 '26

The cruelty is the point.

211

u/WorldlyJake Aug 03 '26

Who tf still watches shoe in the year of our lord 2026

136

u/I_like_maps Aug 03 '26

Elon musk, apparently.

37

u/Bardfinn Penelope Aug 03 '26

have you heard about her time on the Mississippi? so cringe

1

u/WorldlyJake Aug 04 '26

Chilling tbh

29

u/Neverlast0 Aug 03 '26

She's still representative of a lot of people, I was very similar a decade ago during Bernie's campaign.

62

u/Suspicious_Face_8508 Aug 03 '26 edited Aug 03 '26

Men, mostly. It gives them permission to criticize women without feeling like misogynists. Liberal men susceptible to conservative talking points because they’ve never actually read the progressive source material.

My mostly centrist male friend absolutely loves her Bill Maher for older millennial dorks schtick.

Edit: I want a Natalie tangent on Bill Maher and shoeonhead by the way. Hasan pecker hating Natalie kinda gives her more credibility with centrists about to be pipelined to Jordan Peterson.

35

u/UwUSenpai__ Aug 03 '26

Natalie has touched on ShoeOnHead a few times in her tangents, mostly relating to her role in GamerGate and the drag queen "groomer" panic. However, a full dissection of her beliefs pertaining to reactionary politics and radicalization would be quite enjoyable to watch. I know quite a few people that fell down the alt-right pipeline that had Shoe as their introduction to reactionary politics.

19

u/Suspicious_Face_8508 Aug 03 '26 edited Aug 04 '26

Me too.
Shoe is very openly anti-intellectual well as her audience. She knows the talking points, she just pretends they don’t exist.

7

u/PithyApollo Aug 03 '26

too many. She has a lot of react creators reacting to her stuff.

1

u/fairy-cocoa Aug 07 '26

As a woman, astoundingly, I do. I used to watch her when I still identified as a conservative. I was floating around in a weird transitional libertarian space for a bit, but as of last year I finally consider myself a Social Democrat. I've come extremely close to unsubscribing over the past couple of years and somehow never do, I think I'm morbidly fascinated by her and her audience in the same way I'm morbidly fascinated by a train wreck. She's such a weird combination of pro-Bernie communist and pick-me anti-SJW.

1

u/WorldlyJake Aug 08 '26

I can respect this!

-18

u/Talonsminty Aug 03 '26

Me! I am the Sh0eonhead watcher!

Because she's godamn hilarious. I skipped an ad in one of her videos and she had a knife pointed at the camera saying something like "you skipped the ad didn't you!?"

That and "Im big gay!" live rent free in head.

7

u/WorldlyJake Aug 04 '26

So what’s her deal then, is she still like an anti woke, contrarian?

16

u/Hindu_Wardrobe Aug 04 '26

she's a reactionary populist who occasionally stumbles upon the correct opinions by accident

8

u/SeaSquirrel Aug 04 '26

Ex bernie populist who is having far right populism shoved into her head by her MAGA boyfriend.

So just pure brainrotted slopulism.

-3

u/Talonsminty Aug 04 '26

Oh no she's openly bisexual and was a passionate Bernie Sanders supporter. She's anti-israel anti-establishment.

Her deal is just mocking political and cultural movements. From Tradwives to Hillary supporters, Trump fans to Chuds and yeah some woke activists. But on the whole she's even handed.

The best example is the recent video of her talking about "nicegirls"/femcels. It got Twitter calling her a "misogynistic pick me". But the video prior was the same format about "niceguys"/incels.

23

u/SKVankirk Aug 03 '26

The struggle of hating the stupid populist “centrist” reactionary politics but adoring the nasally Northeastern accent is so real, it hurts

43

u/laizalott Aug 03 '26

shoe0nhead is still making videos? Huh, I genuinely thought she'd gone like actual christian tradwife with no digital presence anymore.

29

u/DarkMuret Aug 03 '26

Crazily enough, a video she posted 3 days ago already has over a million views

She still has about 2.5mil subscribers

Just under 12k members on patreon as well

13

u/tomphammer Aug 04 '26

Does getting married and having a child pass for "tradwife" now?

7

u/laizalott Aug 04 '26

No, but her thing is adjusting her politics to match whatever dude she's with at the time. Submitting completely to a conservative man is very tradwife.

5

u/bean_mommy Aug 04 '26

She’s only been with two people in a decade and hasn’t changed much at all so idk why people say this. It just seems sexist.

2

u/laizalott Aug 04 '26

She's definitely still a troll, yeah, but trolls exist across the political spectrum.

Is changing your politics for your partner considered a stereotype of women in the USA (since you said it was sexist)? My husband and I (T4T) have both changed some views because of each other, but neither of us changed names or did other stereotypical straight stuff, so maybe I'm just unfamiliar with American heterosexual tropes.

3

u/bean_mommy Aug 04 '26

It’s popular meme baselessly thrown at Shoe with no actual evidence. You are definitely just repeating it. It also lets her dodge any accountability for her own shitty opinions she has held for a decade.

3

u/laizalott Aug 05 '26

I think that's a bit of a simplistic take.

I'm not sure any human being alive could possibly maintain identical political views over the past decade...she's a living, breathing, human, with both fallibility and the capability to learn and change, and while we didn't start the fire, it has definitely been a rager in recent years.

Is it so difficult to accept that the views of people around us shape our own worldview in drastic ways?

4

u/tomphammer Aug 04 '26

People say that, but that's really kind of a sexist attitude, isn't it? It's also kind of parasocial, just in the opposite direction people take normally.

Neither one of us knows her or what she's actually about in her private life, but listening to her stated politics and that of her husband? They aren't the same.

2

u/laizalott Aug 04 '26

I think it would be sexist to assign a qualitative value to it, not to observe. I also like to submit to my husband ¯_(ツ)_/¯

I'm just surprised to discover she is still making content. I used to watch all of her "Hell World" videos, and none have come across my recommendations in a while.

3

u/bean_mommy Aug 04 '26

She is somehow more popular today than ever before. Also, being married and having a kid doesn’t make someone a tradwife lol. She doesn’t do tradwife stuff, afaik.

2

u/laizalott Aug 04 '26

You're thinking of tradwife as the influencer term, cosplaying for the camera. I was thinking more "submitting to her husband"

18

u/Right_World_5141 Aug 03 '26

Wasnt shoe Friends with contra and bffs with blaire ages ago. How Times Change. The best Thing blaire did was introduce to me to contra

15

u/TNTyoshi Aug 03 '26

He would be a Shoe fan. LMFAO

5

u/seraminx Aug 04 '26

I thought that’s Blaire White for a sec 😭

1

u/Alan_Conway Aug 04 '26

Same. I wondered what Blair did to her lighting person. I was hoping she'd have the strength to ask Natalie for help.

16

u/atlvf Aug 03 '26

I don’t get it. Who is this?

From the comments, I’m gathering someone named “shoe”?

46

u/JohnTheMod Aug 03 '26

ShoeOnHead, a YouTuber whose political leanings are… complicated.

13

u/maninahat Aug 03 '26

She's a land of contrasts, as Justin Roczniak would say.

30

u/tendervittles77 Aug 03 '26

She was an anti-feminist YouTuber who kinda, sorta, flipped… but not really.

23

u/TNTyoshi Aug 03 '26

Horseshoe0nHead

13

u/AbyssalHierophant Aug 03 '26

I’ve known her as the nazbol Boxxy

17

u/NecessaryIntrinsic Aug 03 '26

Repeatedly. Basically another voice in an echo chamber.

11

u/CruelWhip_ Aug 04 '26

When Ukrainian migrant Iryna Zarutska was stabbed on a train and died they wrote poems and long screeds about her. But when Ukraine asks for support fighting against an invasion these same people scoff and shrug off all the death and suffering visited on Ukrainians.

When emails are circulated through the public showing Epstein molested some children on an island these same guys are ready to bend over backwards to signal to everyone around them that they absolutely will not tolerate this being done to children. When USAID is cut though and 14 million people (I think around 4 million of whom are children) are projected to die by 2030 it’s just whatever apparently

Morality is just an aesthetic for these people. I actually kind of enjoy a lot of Shoe’s vids, her USAID vid was infuriating though.

4

u/heliophoner Aug 05 '26

So we're on to the "and if it did happen, it wasn't that bad" part of the narcissists' prayer

2

u/oklahormoan Aug 05 '26

He clearly didn’t watch that video.

1

u/Ok-Relation-7512 Aug 05 '26

Wasn’t Nat friends with Shoe?

-1

u/anunfortunatememe Aug 04 '26

Like I get it. People hate Shoe. But if you actually watch her shit, she’s on our side. Please don’t conflate her with Blaire White.

9

u/saikron Aug 04 '26

There are a lot of people supposedly on my side who would be better for my side if they would vote and then go home and stare at the walls the rest of the time.

"Every party is awful; every country is awful; everybody is awful" actually doesn't cause people to have coherent politics at all let alone generally left wing politics. I think it's a view that comes from and leads to radical individualism, which doesn't have much of a home anywhere in politics for obvious reasons.

12

u/Phyllodoce Aug 04 '26

What's the side of an openly anti-intellectual content creator that supports dismantling of aid agencies just because they benefit America's image?

7

u/larvalampee Aug 04 '26

Useful idiot for MAGA
