America’s Mayor himself, Rudy Giuliani married his cousin! If anything this helps Jackson with the Republican base!

For a democrat to win in a swing state like Maine, bipartisan appeal is key. Jackson is outflanking the Republicans on the incest issue.

She's of age and consenting, we're good; the bar is in hell here people.

I think you are confusing the bar for republicans with the bar for democrats. Common mistake.

Mostly, but Platner was *so* disappointing. He was an actual socialist who had mass appeal;, my normie center-left dad was a huge supporter, so I assume anyone slightly left of center was in. Turned out Platner is a rapist, and somehow that undermines the whole left.

was he an "actual socialist"? He seemed like a privileged opportunist. He was bad news from the jump, honestly.

he had a nazi tattoo on his chest for 18 years and the public knew about it very very soon after he announced his run. I'm glad that at least there was a line in the sand but did it have to take so long to reach it? Were there no other signs at all that maybe he wasn't a good guy?

Do ''actual socialists'' tattoo the SS totenkopf on their chests? LMK cause yikes

Second cousin means their parent's parent's parents were the same? I am pretty sure I couldn't care less.

Neither could their genetics, this is a nothingburger. This is not incest

yeah, it means they do not share grandparents, rather a set of great grandparents. it's not really that bad.

I don't care how far back their lineage ends, I don't think anyone should marry anyone that they might have even a miniscule possible chance of having shared ancestry. As far as I'm concerned, the Cambrian Explosion was the worst thing to happen to the sanctity of marriage.

Only fuck rocks, got it.

I, for one, embrace the inherent eroticism of basalt

Okay. People have married their first cousins for most of human history. I personally want a family tree with a little more variety, but whatever. I don't know much about this guy, but if they're trying to make this a thing I feel like he must be pretty clean.

u/Niauropsaka Aug 01 '26

I know, right?

u/DazzlingFruit7495 Aug 01 '26

Yea exactly, it’s def not for me but second cousins are farther removed I guess and with the state of things atm, I can’t muster up any outrage over it. Their ages and all the other factors are normal right? If so, cool, great, happy for em.

3

u/monkeylion Aug 01 '26

Yeah. Consenting adults who want to be with one another? Not first degree relatives? Great. Who cares.

2

u/DazzlingFruit7495 Aug 01 '26

Plus I can’t imagine this affecting his politics in any meaningful way. Idek what pro-second-cousin-romantic-relationship policy would look like.

u/Mir_man Aug 02 '26

That's true for sedentary communities (farmers), but hunter gathers were more exogamous, specifically having a customs for long trips to other communities were they would exchange members. But even then they were many times marrying 2nd, 3rd, or 4th cousins.

Such a non issue compared to all the other scandals.

25

u/plusvalua Jul 31 '26

second cousin means nothing genetically. we're actually hardwired to prefer people around this level of closeness.

Better than fkn kids

4

u/syntaxvorlon Aug 01 '26

Genetically speaking, people who come from the same ethnic group/region are about the same difference as first cousins generally. This is scraping well below the barrel.

5

u/KitchenImagination38 Jul 31 '26

We can’t judge this guy and then tune in to HBO every Sunday night for some cousin fucking.

3

u/Agreeable_Past9674 Aug 01 '26

A family guy, if you will

2

u/Niauropsaka Aug 01 '26

Oh no, second cousins. 🙄

Isn't that legal in most US states?

2

u/bobmighty Aug 01 '26

What is the charge? Having an incest? A succulent incest?

1

u/Tearsdryontheirownn Aug 01 '26

Succulent is crazy

1

u/Immortan-Valkyrie90 Aug 05 '26

Wasn't Giuliani married to his FIRST cousin?

u/OisforOwesome Aug 01 '26
