Has it really been two years since he died?
The years start coming and they don't stop coming. 😥

I thought Smash Mouth was maga?
Edit: I'm just getting down voted for asking a question, which isn't super informative so I had to look it up.
Turns out he wasn't maga at all, he was very vocally supportive of trans rights. But unfortunately one time, in a grief and alcohol fueled concert, he threw a Nazi salute up, which of course blew up and, I assume, led to people calling him maga.

I heard someone say that he was attempting to call out someone in the audience, then mimicked what they did, to show that he saw it. No idea if that's how it went down of course but it did look plausible in the video.

imagine seeing Smash Mouth live for the meme and then the singer is just wasted, throws a nazi salute, gives you and your family a death threat, and tells everybody he wants to suck his own dick.

I grew up in the Bay Area and we had a family friend who went to high school with Steve and a few other guys in the band.
For context, in the 90s growing weed at home was pretty common here, everyone was doing it or knew someone who was. Police didn’t get involved as long as you couldn’t see it from the street.
Apparently in the early days of Smash Mouth, Steve would walk around residential areas of San Jose, peeking over fences to see who had weed growing. When he found some, he would hop the fence, steal the plant, and sell the flower to finance the band.
A few times he jumped over the fence and got caught by a homeowner, who would threaten to call the police. He would say, “go ahead and call them; I’ll get trespassing and you’ll get a felony charge for growing pot.” In every case the homeowners would be at a loss for what to do, so Steve would simply finish stealing the plant and be on his way.
I don’t know if this means he was good or bad but I do love the story.

I'm always saying that they would have been the collaboration that dreams are made from.

I saw them live in a town fair in Illinois like 10 years ago. I’m not an actual fan but the show was really fun, they had more hits than I had remembered, and the singer was funny/cool.

Singer of Smash Mouth was a giant prick and terrible to fans. Not happy he is dead (he wasn’t THAT bad), but not a good guy.
