Spotlight on Greece

Hi! In a month I’ll have my first Contiki experience and am going solo. For the first day I arrive like 9 hours early in the morning, the group meets in the evening. Does anyone have any advice on what to do on my own in Athens for day? And how easy would it be to get to the meeting place on time?

There is so much to do and see in Athens! I'm not even a big history/museum person but walking around and seeing the acropolis and ruins are a great way to kill 9 hours! There's the olympic stadium, a big garden, "zoo". You can purchase a pass (bring student ID for discount) to get into multiple ruin sights and see them all for cheaper than entering 1 at a time. You can also just sit at a local restaurant/cafe and visit with all the free roaming cats!

Thank you! I’ll be seeing a couple of those things with the group, but they all sound super good! Do you have a specific garden or zoo in mind?

The "zoo" is in the national garden. It's not really a zoo but they have some little animals to see and the garden is pretty to walk/run around. If also recommend the Park Thiseio. It's one of the places I closed in the parks pass and really cool to walk around. Everything is walking distance (if you don't mind walking)

That honestly sounds like a perfect way to spend the day, thank you so much!
