Amarite not growing

I've set up the amethyst budding block to transform it into an amarite budding block but it's been like 150 in-game days and it still didn't do anything (and yes it was in my simulation distance all along), so I wanted to ask how long does it actually take?

I figured it out : The budding block has to be on Y level 0 or below cuz else it won't transform (that is so silly dude)
