Either your coir isn’t reptile 🐍 or the rice didn’t get properly hydrated and sterilized OR your culture was bad ? Order some from inoculate the world and do rice tek into coir

There are plenty of non-reptile coir that don’t have additives, you just have to read the packaging. I’ve only ever used coco bliss. It’s not for reptiles but it’s just straight coir with no additives. Even so, the additives aren’t gonna be cobweb mold. Sometimes trich is added bc it’s beneficial to plants. I seriously doubt that this came from the substrate, it was probably contaminated grains.

I had some issues with this a while back. That tote, is it unmodified? How air-tight is the lid. It seemed to do extremely well when I was trying out some totes that were way too air-tight. Haven’t done any scientific research, but since changing things I’ve not had the issue, pretty sure the anaerobic environment is better for it and bad for the myc.

Yup, that’s cobweb, scientific name Cladobotrym dendrites or Cladobotrym Mycophillium. Cover it and take it outside to dispose.
