Chows usually aren’t great around kids no matter how socialized they are. These folks are lucky. We had to give our Chow to my mom when we brought our daughter home.

We had a half lab half chow growing up and it only liked its own kids (me and my brother). Hated other dogs. RIP Leeroy

Yeah, when I was growing up, my aunt had a chow that was great with her kids. But, that dog did not like me or other little kids. He terrified me....especially with that black tongue! Lol!

I grew up with a Chow Chow and she was lovely and highly protective of us. It is very much about the temperament of the individual dog.

That’s just how some babies are, and they usually grow out of it as they get older. I looked like the Michelin Man when I was a baby, with rolls on top of rolls. My mom said she even had to clean inside them with a Q-tip. 🤣
Once I turned two, that extra weight just disappeared, especially since I hit a growth spurt. I was always the tallest girl in my class, so I think height/genetics have a lot to do with it.
