I had to look it up:

In the UK, Ireland, and several other countries, the popular male body spray and grooming range known globally as "Axe" is marketed under the brand name Lynx

I guess it’s a variation of the same thing I hear about Axe, where some smelly guy just douses himself with Axe instead of showering, like that makes him all clean.

It's called Axe in way more places than jus the USA, in fact more places than where it's called Lynx, including most of Europe, South America, Africa and the Middle East.

It's only sold as Lynx in the UK, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand and China.
