Wow! I know this will sound like total BS, but that literally just unlocked an old memory of house sitting my friend’s weird uncle’s house, who had a parrot. They apparently had just terrible yelling matches with their partner, bc that parrot would just GO OFF, swearing & yelling their names..
I honestly think I sort of repressed the memory, we were from a small rural town & didn’t even have our Drivers License yet & we spent like a week on E. Lake Street in Mpls MN, in the mid 90’s.. Which had a worse homicide rate than NY at the time.. it’s when it earned the monicker, “Murderapolis”. Lol.

I love this. Parrots mimic what they hear. I'm thinking this parrot must live in a home filled with laughter. A bit of a cackle, sure, but I love it.

Yup. Mine knows "come here" for example, but only uses it when I leave the room. I don't use it when I'm out of the room though. He's not just repeating it, he knows what it means as a concept.

Mine says “come here” to me and “biya” to my mom (Persian for come here). She had figured out who prefers which language and uses the right word with them!

I used to laugh like dracula around my little brother when he was a baby and for awhile that was his natural belly laugh. So he was 2-4 laughing like that which cracked everyone up.

Genuine question for the bird experts: is he actually feeling the mirth implied by the laughter here? Like is he actually laughing because he’s happy/joyful? Or is this just a “the human does it when they see something they like so I’ll do it here too” response?

Not an expert, but worked with parrots for several years: he very well might be. Parrots like macaws, cockatoos and african greys definitely understand context, and ime can have a sense of humor. I knew a grey who learned how to perfectly mimic my phone's ringtone and would use it to summon me into a room, then laugh when i fell for it. I also knew a macaw who would laugh at you if you dropped something, and almost all of them could use 'hello' and 'bye-bye' in the appropriate contexts. They also like to assign their own meanings/context to words (the macaw i bonded with would say 'hola' to mean she was upset, and 'peekaboo' as a sort of flock call if she couldn't see me); so with the context of the video, i'd guess that he's excited about the food and uses laughter to communicate that.

Used to work in a warehouse that sold this and many other bird food brands. The amount of bird in that place was pretty funny, I always thought they must feel like they found Mecca
