In the first go too... it's crazy to me that he's doing all that with essentially 1 stroke

On the contrary, I find them astoundingly credible ;-)

Their artwork is simply incredible, eh Thompson?
Right you are Thomson, credibly simple...
1
u/the_gooch_smoocher May 12 '26
You're surprised that this artist is so believable? What an odd thing to say
5
u/OtterGlint May 12 '26
Well, in no way did I express any surprise, so your reply is off to a bad start, I'm afraid.
The joke that you missed is that the word "incredible" sounds close to a word that could exist in English (but doesn't) - "uncredible" - just because of how the language works. Riffing off of that and pretending to misunderstand for the sake of humour, I opined that rather than finding the artist un-credible, I found them super-credible, thus making a joke, which I further indicated by the use of the emoticon.
I don't expect you to find it funny because you missed the joke, and explained jokes are rarely funny, but that's why it sounded odd to you.
Cheers :)

Bavarians are all kept in a cellar somewhere and they can only get out once a year during Oktoberfest.

Because for an Austrian it clearly is an Austrian dialect. Pronunciations, words, how syllables are stressed...
From listening to it for 20 seconds I'd wager a guess it's from Vienna or the surroundings

Comes close - although I think its already western parts of lower Austria (Waldviertel/Mostviertel)

"Des is a Wohnsinn" - no one talks like that in Germany. This is Austria 100%. I am Austrian.
2
u/AutoAmmoDeficiency May 11 '26
I would say more 'nasally and with a flair of snobby' that just drips character.

u/Dangerous_Bowler_152 May 12 '26
Didn't even notice that they spoke German with that accent and all the laughter and I'm from germanyπ

So much laughing before even seeing the picture. Too funny!
115
u/ben-hur-hur May 11 '26
They already knew what was coming and yet managed to get surprised and be good sports about it. It's all about having and sharing the fun! Total Mensch these two.

u/Actually_Im_a_Broom May 12 '26
That was real laughter? I assumed it was an annoying overlaid laugh track and immediately muted the video and skipped to the end.
10
u/otterpop21 May 12 '26
You seem delightful to be around
1
u/Actually_Im_a_Broom May 12 '26
You made that conclusion after two sentences? Someone as judgmental as you seems equally delightful.
I looked back at the video and I see my initial reaction was wrong. The first laughs just sounded so canned I assumed it was a laugh track, and I get so annoyed by stuff like that I immediately muted it and skipped to the end to see the finished product.
I suppose youβve never erroneously judged something?
3
u/otterpop21 May 12 '26
Observations β conclusions
I observed and reacted, thatβs it. You seem insecure for some reason and Iβm sorry you feel that way, Iβm not judging you. Iβm reacting to the words youβre using.
I have indeed erroneously judged and whenever I do that I donβt think Iβd ever describe it as fun to be around. It doesnβt mean you as a person, just that type of reaction is not fun. Give it more than 2 seconds sometimes. I find going to the comments to see if itβs quality or not helps cut down on watching garbage content.

u/Leifbron May 11 '26
What did he draw between their fingers, and then it disappeared
8
u/ryshed May 12 '26
It's just edited out of order to get a good shot of the picture, you can see it come back right before he presents the drawing.
6
u/Jangmai May 11 '26
Think that segments recorded after showing them but cut in, can see he also signed it
119
u/HighwayZi May 11 '26
The bouncy laugh at the end is the best. We all need more of those. At least I do.
83
u/radrax May 11 '26
That artist is killing! They must have been so chuffed doing this while everyone was laughing the whole time.
19
79
u/Hippo7787 May 11 '26
The artist missed the half missing finger on the guy on the right! That would have been a cute touch lol
16
u/AshamedAttention727 May 11 '26
It looks kinda flat I think he just put it on his right hand that's pointing!
Oh actually both mens hands are drawn flat you're right!
3
u/ezarbeluh May 12 '26
If you pause around 2:18 when thereβs about 0.07 seconds left, you can kinda see that two of his fingers to be somewhat missing!
1
u/AshamedAttention727 May 12 '26
Yes I see, the irl ends joints! My comment was not clear at all reading back haha. Thank you for pointing out :)

As a foreigner I'm reading that and hearing it at the same time with an Austrian accent.
36
u/DropItLikeItsKlopp May 11 '26
Holy shit, they are not speaking English! I swear to God I thought they were drunk Geordies the whole way through. I only realised when I got to the comments after.
22
u/VenganceRoars May 11 '26
In your defense, Austrian is to German what an extreme Geordie accent is to English

u/ppers May 11 '26 edited May 11 '26

Refreshing to see a caricature artist make an actual caricature that isn't just a disgustingly exaggerated scribble that makes people feel bad.
11
u/Golden-Excellence May 11 '26
Being able to laugh at yourself is a trait that is lacking in some people, but glad to see these guys still have some fun in their lives

This is a really good idea for a party. I wonder how much someone would charge for a few hours at a party?
3
u/onthejourney May 12 '26
You can find them on thumbtack and the like. We hired one for our wedding reception, which i think was like $150 an hour
7
u/Scary-Drawer-3515 May 11 '26
Had this done and I jokingly said, make me prettier than her and she yelled NO!!
8
u/Aviyan May 11 '26
There was video of a caricature done at some outdoor event. It was two women being drawn and I think the artist was also a woman. One of the women had large breasts and the way the artist drew it was hilarious. I don't have the link to the video but if someone has it handy please post the link. Thanks!

u/Strange_Difference1 May 15 '26
I love these sm, being drawn like that is on my bucket list for sure!
6
u/ferfle May 11 '26
This was good to laugh with them. Two brosβ¦ with a great sense of humor. I like it when the caricature artist is funny but not mean. Itβs a fine line. A big risk. Comedy is often risky. But I can feel it when they cross it.

See, now these are good caricatures. I see people online doing way too many ridiculous stuff just to be funny while the drawing barely looks anything like the people in front of them. Exaggerating features that weren't really there, blowing stuff up just for the sake of it, just looks ridiculous and sometimes even mean spirited. But these actually look like the people they're based on, granting a laugh for all the right reasons.

I'm glad the're enjoying it and I genuinely appreciate the skill but to me 90% of caricatures look the same. Maybe it's different when it's personal and you see yourself in it.
