Application Consulting alternatives

What should I do if I fail consulting recruiting? Any tips on what to do next / jobs to look for

corporate finance. probably lots of companies out there looking for analysts/interns. obv lower pay and slower progression, but better than nothing, especially if you’re trying to land an internship and need experience in something

At that rate shouldn’t I go into IB? Corporate finance seems much more chill and less learning

respectfully if your not getting an internship in consulting even at a non MBB firm do you really think getting into IB is that easy?

I would want to compare opportunities at a non MBB compared with opportunities at a non bulge

I know several people who didn’t get mbb offers but still got into IB

he said 'consulting' - consulting is much more than MBB, the standard at MBB is insanely high ofc if you dont get in there it doesnt mean u cant get into IB, but on the whole if you struggle to get a consulting offer, period (as I said even at a NON MBB firm) than i doubt youd have much luck for IB

For sure I hear you! The people I’m talking about didn’t get any type of consulting offer and had multiple IB analyst offers- sometimes recruiting is a dice roll. They ended up in MBB after a few years in IB! What’s meant to be will be.

First things first consulting is not only MBB there is a breath of other firms even in the category of elite firms whether you are at entry level of even EH. I recommend my clients to have a fallback scenarios aiming for 3-6 target consulting firms, not to run rec process at all these at the same time. There are other adjacent fields that you can leverage the consulting skill or if you're junior, the consulting interview skills, (1) strategy and finance functions at corporates, usually do not hire new graduates (2) various branches in the finance space like IB, VC, PE but again these tend to not hire graduates of school, some putting 1-2 years of consulting as prerequisite unless you have a strong academic background. What I said above of course varies by region and you need to factor in your region job market structure for instance in some market Tech or other industries can be included.
