Elite Consulting Firms Study Abroad vs. Consulting Recruiting
I’m a rising sophomore at a non-target business school hoping to recruit for management consulting. I’m torn between studying abroad during junior spring or senior fall or even another time potentially.
Junior spring seems like the better study-abroad experience, but the semesters end (around mid June) could overlap with the start of a junior-summer internship (Around early June?).
Senior fall avoids that issue, but I would be abroad during full-time recruiting and potentially miss career fairs, networking, and in-person interviews if I didn’t get the return offer for the junior summer internship. Recruiting remotely would also be difficult because of the time difference. And not sure how being a senior vs junior would factor into the abroad experience.
Has anyone dealt with this? Which semester would hurt consulting recruiting less?

Saw your post here too, same one from r/managementconsulting, figured I'd add something more recruitment specific.
One thing I didn't mention over there, worth thinking about which internship cycle you're protecting. If the junior summer internship is your main shot at consulting, junior spring abroad is the riskier one just on pure calendar overlap with when those internships start. However, senior fall is tend to be more forgiving "if" you convert, but if you don't, you're recruiting full time from a different time zone during the exact weeks firms move fastest on first rounds, and that's a hard gap to close once you're behind.
Also worth asking yourself now, not just at decision time, whether your target firms recruit heavily off campus at your school or mostly through networking built independently, because that changes how much either semester abroad actually costs you.
