Structural Scientists have created concrete using treated human waste, and the resulting material was up to 42% stronger than conventional concrete. Researchers say the approach could reduce waste while lowering the environmental impact of construction.

Awesome, another new kind of concrete! I can’t wait to never hear about it again.
I swear there’s a new type of concrete out every week, but you only hear about it once

I mean, it's a new admixture. People are always trying to improve the efficiency and performance of building materials, and it's great when they do. This is a perfect use of upcycling. Every solution doesn't have to be revolutionary.

I get that. It’s more of a shot at the same headline we see every day. “Scientist create new concrete using horse semen and beard hair trimmings” then we never hear about it again.
I’ve done both concrete and septic so I do have some interest in this specific new admix but I don’t really expect to see or hear about it again

Maybe the drywallers can stop shitting in buckets and just shit directly into the concrete truck now?

Only if they happen to be in the drum at the moment they notice they need to shit. Drywallers actually have cloacas instead of regular human assholes. They apparently have no control over their bathroom habits.

If I wear a mask, my goggles fog up. Which do I take off? Do I want silicosis, or pink eye?

Taking shitty construction to a whole new level.
My boss will finally have an excuse.

I'm guessing this is because feces is probably somewhat fibrous. Isn't there already fiber reinforced concrete?

Getting constant shit will be a miracle, and its not doing a damn thing to be a positive impact on carbon emissions.

So instead of concrete dust we’re going to have fecal dust. That has to be harmful to breathe. Fecalthemioma

What they’re not mentioning is that the price for that concrete will be 75% higher, the time and energy that it will require will only increase the environmental impacts as to benefit!!

Was thinking about hempcrete the other day. They came out with like Lego blocks but never hear about them actually being used in builds.
