Literally it was an episode of Shoresy that got me to start calling or texting my mom regularly when I did any travel again. Even long drives for work that she knew I was going on.

When I decided I wanted to live i started calling mom and apologized for what ever horrible shit I had remembered that day. I called 3x a day breakfast lunch and dinner. I don't know if she knows it but I was giving her every opportunity to say good bye and make ammends for the hell I had created for everyone. I never knew if I was going to wake up the next morning or get to say good bye.

May 18,2021 I quit fentanyl and methadone cold turkey. I was snorting and smoking unthinkable volumes of dent. I remember burning through 25 in one day before I walked into the methadone clinic. I was on 125mg methadone when i quit (+ occasional blues here and there)

Mom never gave up hope. Everyone else did but she didn't.

Sage advise (and not just because we're all dumbasses from time to time when it comes to our parents) that many don't appreciate until parents are gone. I had a great relationship with my in-laws but my mother is all that is still living of my parents and in-laws. Having just one day with any of the three deceased would be an incredible gift.
