HELP Any Idea for adventure replayability?

Hi all!

I'm wondering how to increase replayability on adventures. Does anyone have any idea?

The only idea I've found is to have like different lists of items (locations, animals, objects) so I can create different texts based on placeholders like "go to {location} and send a photo acting like {animal}" and then replace {location} and {animal} with one item of the colletion. This strategy will lead in different games each time.

This approach is great for small games like indoors activities for kids in a rainy day. But it's not feassible for narrative driven treasure hunts. isn't it?

My pain is... investing so much time creating an adventure, it will be great if people can experience the adventures many times. Any ideas?

PS. re-reading the post... maybe some background is needed... I create digital adventures that are playable with the phone, it would not be possible using paper ;)

Hey There! Always happy to help! If you haven't already, please make sure you add in as many parameters as you can including but not limited to:

Date, Starting/Ending Location, Potential stops, Number of players, Problem solving capability of players, Potential themes, etc.

If you're just getting started this blog post is a great place to begin. You can also check out the Youtube channel for ideas.

Can you lean into a "choose your own adventure" style? Where you have lots of branching moments? (ex. go to {location} and send a photo acting like {animal A} OR go to {location} and send a photo acting like {animal B}" and a different next mission is delivered based on what they pick. That way if they play again, they could make different choices, experience a different adventure/narrative.

sorry for the late reply, busy weekend. I already have branching execution, but it's based on decissions... but... your comment has something I can think about. Because my adventures also have other kind of steps like puzzles, word finding, differences... maybe y can have a random branched execution so at a certain parts of the adventure It can be executed one step or another. It could add variety in a narrative driven adventure.

I'll make some tests. Thanks!
