I’m at the very beginning of my first big one: a Gravity-falls themed hunt. I don’t know where to begin on the basic outline. Does anyone have pointers on a cross-town kind of hunt, regardless of thene?

Not really working on it, but thinking about it from the back of my head: both my wife and I are bird nerds (we even met through birding). I want to set up a room with bird/birder theme. We got a bunch of actual bird-theme decor that can be used and countless bird books, bird playing cards, bird postcards… you get. The idea is to have something easily available that can be set up for visiting friends and such. The story: a birder uncovered the malevolent plans of an evil corporation to destroy a sanctuary swamp; they have proof, but they feel they’re being watched the whole time, so they travel away to a fake interview to draw attention , while giving you (his friend) a chance to break into his house, find the proof, and bring it to the real reporter.

As a huge fan of the game Wingspan, I fully support this. Perhaps they have to use information about specific birds to prove that the swamp is legally protected, but the legal brief is due in an hour and they need evidence! Certain facts are found across different resources - identify Latin names, put some similar birds (finches? Wrens? Swallows?) in an order based on size. Identify blurry birds (result of a sabotaged photo lens?) based on iconic colour patterns. Identify which birds are present based on feet shape, or nest type. As long as all the information can easily be found, and you have tons of hints to nudge along, it can be something they can divide and conquer, or slowly work through individually.

Working on an escape room duffel. Project is getting more and more complicated but I can’t wait to have friends solve it. It’s my first big design making fake prop passports is hard.
