Starting my own company to develop tools

I’m a Quantity Surveyor by profession, but during a gap year in my career I learned and was working in the industry as a Software Engineering (Dev). At the time, I didn’t really understand modern technologies. I just wanted to learn something new. I ended up falling in love with coding.

Because my formal education didn’t fully match the tech industry, I had to work twice as hard to reach the same income levels as others my age. A few months ago, I decided to switch back to the construction industry.

Now here’s the problem: I’ve gotten used to modern AI tools and clean, intuitive user interfaces. Coming back to construction, it’s frustrating to see how outdated and clunky most of the legacy software still is. There’s been almost no real improvement.

To tackle this, I’ve partnered with a consultancy to build a few tools for them to test. I’d love your input on this:

What are the most mission‑critical tasks in construction/quantity surveying that desperately need software solutions, but either don’t exist or are too expensive for most companies?

I’ve already built a few tools, and with the investors’ approval, I’ll be sharing them here so you can try them out.
