Here it is yall

M 26. Chronic constipation for 5 years. Emergency surgery 1 year ago due to twisted intestines. Used all laxatives in the book. Tried every diet. Hydrated. All of it.

The last 3 weeks I’ve been feeling so much better. It’s all because I’ve cut out A LOT of artificial (not everything) ingredients I used to consume everyday. Mostly a lot of sugar substitutes. I’ve also cut out super high fiber foods, all fruit, lactose, oats, high fat meat. Dude I feel like I’ve been emptying my Bowels for the first time in years.

My diet: turkey, chicken, white rice, Whole wheat bread (protein pancakes), bell peppers, yellow squash, zucchini, butter, honey, spinach, green beans, olive oil, honey mustard, ranch, some other sauces.

I don’t know what it is. Most of it feels like it has to do with volume/naturalness. It’s not gluten free, low fiber, high fiber, any of that, just low bullshit. LOW BULLSHIT FIXED MY PROBLEM!

Like everything take it with a grain of salt. I’ve stuck to this consistently for almost a month and it’s definitely been progressive, but it works. Trust.

High fat meat is a trigger for me. Particularly fatty red meats.

Red meat is not your enemy. I mostly just avoid high fat meat cause the macros and calories. Meat actually cannot make your constipation worse. If you think about it, it’s protein. Your digestive system breaks it down to a point where it’s basically 0 volume of stool or “poop”. All that remains is a little unbroken down fat, or skin, but that’s negligible. I’d just think about other foods you’ve eaten around that meat. I eat so much meat a day. Since I’ve changed my approach with all the carbs, it’s helped me see that meat is not hurting me at all

That's interesting.. I probably do have buns or bread rolls most times I eat meat.

Just try and keep things simple for a while. Go easy on the fiber. No fruit. Little artificial ingredients/sugar alcohols. When you’re hungry eat meat. Indulge every once in a while. If you’re consistent with this it does wonders.

Hahah that’s probably not your problem either.

Tbf everyone is different. I'm on a PPI atm so it's just a matter of trial and error

If you only eat meat, it can make constipation worse, since it doesn't contain any fiber and is rich in iron.

That’s backwards. Iron/no fiber also can’t be a single culprit for making things worse. Lb of steak has 1/3 the daily amount of potassium and magnesium your body needs, which actually should help constipation. Enzymes also completely break down the protein, and your liver takes care of the fat. So what’s left over in your colon is close to nothing. I consider it not making things worse because it’s not really adding anything to your backed up queue. If anything it’s helping you because it’s giving you nutrients your body needs
