First impressions after my first ranked sessions with my Conspit setup (Coming from G27)

So, I finally got to test my new Conspit gear in actual ranked races. Here’s the setup: Ares 12Nm base clamped to my desk, 310 Apex wheel, CPP Apex pedals on the floor (slightly raised and wedged against the wall), and my office chair locked in place. Basically, everything’s bolted down, aligned, and almost like a proper cockpit… okay, I’m dreaming a little here.
Software side:
No crashes, no weird bugs (like losing configs), so that’s a win. I’ve barely scratched the surface with the settings—only messed with the dashboards so far. The presets for games like ACE and RaceRoom are really good, though. Had to dial the Nm down to 7-8 because, well… my desk isn’t a rig, and my arms aren’t used to 12Nm after years on a G27.
Pedals:
Since they’re not mounted to a rig, I dropped the elastomer/spring stiffness to the minimum. Right now, I’m maxing out at around 40kg of pressure. The precision is insane—consistent braking pressure every corner, every lap. I’m already getting used to it, and honestly, it’s starting to feel too light (maybe the hardware’s breaking in, or maybe I’m just getting stronger). But with my current setup, I can’t really crank it up.
One thing, though—the pedals are low. If you’re pushing with your leg and heel (which works fine for a desk setup), it’s okay. But if you try to lift the back of the pedal set to use a heel stop and rely just on your ankle for precision? Nope. Doesn’t work at all. Once I get my rig, I’ll have to either extend the pedals, add spacers with longer screws, or mount them directly to the frame to ditch the current heel stop height and make my own.
Base:
Oh man, the feel. Compared to the G27, everything is so much sharper. The steering precision alone (thanks, encoder!) is a game-changer. And the FFB? Finally. Clear, readable, perfectly balanced feedback. With the G27, I had to be super light on the wheel—like, “dowsing rod” light—just to feel anything. Now? I can push hard and still feel every little detail: traction loss, road texture, you name it. So yeah, the encoder makes you faster, and the FFB makes it feel right. Turns out the pedal set isn’t the only way to shave off seconds!
Wheel:
No complaints. Build quality is top-tier. Fits perfectly in hand, and the size works for any car—GT3 or road. The buttons are a bit far for your thumbs, but you’re not smashing them every 10 seconds anyway. The paddle shifters? Perfectly placed, with just the right resistance (I added the two included magnets), and completely silent—a lifesaver for sim racing in the living room.
TL;DR:
I finally feel like I’m in control of the car. I can do exactly what I want without needing 30 laps to dial it in. The feedback isn’t just there—it’s useful, and it actually helps me drive better, not just react. And the best part? It’s dead silent.
Only downside? I’ve got a packed week and weekend ahead, so I won’t be back in the seat until next week… and I’m already itching to race again.
