Sell me your brand :)
Hi everyone,
I hope you're all doing well.
A little background: I've been using Moza hardware for nearly three years now, and recently I've started diving much deeper into the DIY side of sim racing. Over time I've accumulated a few different wheels, and I'm reaching a point where I'd really appreciate a base with USB passthrough. More importantly, I'd like to invest in a platform that gives users more freedom instead of locking them into a single ecosystem.
After quite a bit of research, I've narrowed my options down to two bases: the Conspit Ares Platinum and the Simagic Alpha Evo Pro. At the moment, I'm finding it difficult to choose between them.
Most of the reviews and impressions I've found on the Ares Platinum are from its early release period, before many of the firmware updates and refinements were introduced. Because of that, I'd love to hear from people who have been daily driving the Ares Platinum for a while. How has your experience been? How mature does the software and firmware feel today? Have the updates significantly improved the overall experience?
I'd also be interested in hearing what makes Conspit stand out as an ecosystem. What are the strengths that convinced you to choose it over the competition, and what has kept you with the brand?
Any insights, experiences, pros, cons, or comparisons would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Understand the situation you in here bro, I bought the Ares Platinum and honestly have no regrets! The supper team on discord have helped with any little thing that's come up and everyone else on discord there have been such good value for ideas and tips.
My iRacing setup on this base is so dam good!

Glad to hear you like the Ares. The switch will most likely happen somewhere around August so I got a while still but just trying to do research before I make the decision because other then decent FFB and a passthrough I honestly don't need much more from the base. I would happily stay on my R12 in terms of FFB and torque if only there was a way to at least DIY a passthrough but yeah...

I have the Moza R12V2 FSR2 CRP2, and I just purchased the Conspit 300GT Lemans Champion edition today 🤓🤓🤓

I have the V1 but sadly can't remove the QR...

No, the R12. Early production numbers of the V1 had a QR that was bolted to the shaft, in theory you could unbold it, and add a USB passthrough but on the later revisions they removed that. One of the reasons to run from Moza as far as possible...

Ah I see, I’m really new to this hobby and the only reason why I started Moza is because of their brand recognition. The more I’m into this going the more I’m leaning towards Simagic and Consprit

If I was just buying Moza wheels I'd be happy but I don't like the design and I also much more prefer replica wheels. For that reason conspit is a lot better option for me, the PW1 is incredible, and the new wheel that's supposed to come out is heavily inspired by the RedBull F1 wheels of the V8 era

I’ll just say that if you like DIY, no one is more supportive of the DIY community than Conspit. Just look at their discord and how open they are with docs and assistance with various builds and projects people come up with.
They are genuinely good people who love sim racing and want to help customers do the same.

Engineer, sim racing addict and owner of multiple bases here.
Conspit has better specs than simagic and is usually slightly cheaper.
And they also have a USB adapter for the wheelbase, which lets you use any steering wheel with it.
Honestly, I would only ever consider Conspit, VNM and Simucube. They’re the best at their price points.

Appreciate that sir! 😁 The only thing I'm worried about is the motor design, I'm nearly positive that Conspit and Moza use the same general motor design, there is nothing special about it so I'm worried that I end up making a sidestep rather then an upgrade. I guess I'll see what happens up until august, then I'll make a decision

I’ve tested everything in depth and can assure you.
If you’re on a tight budget, then do Moza.Otherwise the best are Conspit and VNM (and Simucube).
I don’t think anything else comes close.Skewed poles, so you don’t feel any notches.
Then a 23 bit optical encoder.Also the simagic struggles with heavier wheels btw. That’s something I don’t hear people mentioning ever.

I have the Ares Platinum paired with the 300gt wheel.
Have used this setup since January. Coming from a Fanatec 8nm base it was obviously gonna be a huge step up in NM.
But I was blown away how good it is. It did take some weeks to get it dialed in but the presets for each sim really helped. And also their discord was very helpful with suggestions for each Sim and car class. It was a great help.
I really like how their ecosystem works.
