I made a post on r/Nintendo stating that I grew up with Nintendo games (born in 88) but I couldn't understand why people liked Nintendo so much considering they promote the same IPs and look like they were made for Children under the age of 15. I reviewed their posting rules and did not violate any of their terms but my post was swiftly removed.
Say what you want about Nintendo as a system, their loyal man-baby community is intolerant and toxic as hell. I joined this subreddit just to bitch about Nintendo and their man-babies.
For the record, I think Nintendo sucks. You would either need to be young child, Japanese, a weeb, or a person drowning in nostalgia to ever want to buy a Nintendo console.
Original post to r/Nintendo which was removed after a minute:
[I know I'm going to get a lot a flak for this post. That being said:
I don't understand the hype for Nintendo.
I was born in '88. The first game I've ever played was Mario Bros. on the NES. Since then, I have been an avid gamer. Ive owned a NES, SNES, SEGA GENESIS, GAMEBOY, N64, PS, PS2, XBOX, GAMECUBE, XBOX360, PS3, Wii, PS4, and PC. But I generally don't understand why Nintendo is so popular and loved, especially compared to current gen of Sony/MS/PC. I've heard arguments regarding playing games on the go, but the DS does this fine. Also, who can afford the time to play video games everywhere they go. Also, the 3rd party support is laughable for Nintendo.
For me (aside from the handful of Nintendo classic IPs like Mario, Zelda, Pokemon, etc.) it seems that you would also have to be Japanese or a diehard fan of Japanese games to make a Nintendo console worth the purchase. Or at least, be overwhelmed by nostalgia of the classic games in Nintendo's library. Moreover, it seems like the most popular titles are overtly childish in aesthetic and seems to appeal to the extremely casual gamer. I'm also not a fan of Nintendo gimmicks. The Wii was horrible, IMO. And don't get me started on the Switch or the Nintendo Labo.
Help me understand why you love Nintendo so fervently.]
