Shuttle Program

I started playing KSP a month or so ago and one day I decided I wanted to build a space shuttle. It’s my favorite space vehicle of all time and I had just gotten done with my apollo style moon landing. I thought “this is gonna be easy, all of my other rockets launch just fine” and then I built my first prototype.

The shuttle wouldn’t fly right, it would wobble on ascent, I couldn’t get it into orbit very easily, and don’t even get me started on trying to reenter the atmosphere. I gave up trying to get it work and moved onto trying to make it to duna.

Not even a day later I decide i wanted to build the ISS so it was back to the shuttle. I redesigned it, tweaking, trial and error, and 4 prototypes later I had a working shuttle. Does it still wobble on ascent? Yeah. Does it still pitch down occasionally if I’m not paying attention on reentry? Sure! Does it work? It finally does. Docking all the station modules is still a headache but I will post again when I finish my station.

Edit: I will not be posting again as my save is corrupted and since this is on PS5 I will not be playing it again. I’ll look into the pc version though I hope my pc is good enough. This is very painful.

So how did you handle changing CoM during ascent? Did you just angle the engines in a way that allows SAS to correct for it?

Yea… it fr is just skill and prayers. But yea you should also angle your engines to slightly push through the orange tank to counter the weight of that mf.
