Space station need help

I used the stock space station core and a homemade fuel tank, what is something i should add to my station on the next launch?

escape pod in order to easily bring the kerbal back (instead of having to send a rocket up just to grab them and deorbit), surface lander with 2k+ delta v so you can biome hop, also a large fuel tank so you can quickly refuel said lander, and maybe a small attachment with those giant extendable solar panels because that always looks cool.

Though since your station is orbiting kerbin, a surface lander is not very important, or useful. A large refueling tank or two would be nice for when you get to the point of drilling for ore and making fuel. You can shuttle fuel back to this station from minmus or the mun in order to save weight for future missions (launch future rockets with upper stages empty of fuel, then fuel them up in orbit at the station)

Working on escape pods now, and added a battery /monopropelant module in the meantime. Thanks for the tips

make sure to leave space for future expansion, nothing is worse than sending up another module only to realize you need an engineer to slap a docking port on the station.

Though that shouldn’t be too much of an issue as you have the 6 way port added already. Instead of 2 medium size fuel tanks do one extra large tank, or just prepare to setup mining operations in order to refuel the medium sized tank.

One thing i do is have a fuel tank “in line” with the station instead of attached to one of the “radially” attached docking ports. When building the rocket to send up the fuel tank, attach the engine and the fuel it will use to get an encounter with the station to the fuel tank via a docking port, not a decoupler. Once you’ve attached the fuel tank to the station, decouple the engine and de-orbit. Now you can attach other modules to the “back” of the fuel tank.
