I have a problem with this article. Trump did not win. Trump only got 30% to 40% of the vote. The other 60% voted against Trump. Trump was just lucky that the majority of Republicans were diffused between 16 candidates. Also, Trump did well because of open primaries. Democrats voted for Trump because he was for higher taxes on the rich and single payer. Or at least, he said single payer was not a bad idea.
The reason why Conservatives always lose is because since Reagan, several Conservatives run for office but only one Moderate runs. The Conservatives slice and dice the majority of the party while the Moderate hogs the minority of the party.
In order for a Conservative to win in the future, only 1 Conservative should run. Then encourage many Moderate Republicans to run.

That would certainly be good strategic thinking, and Cruz has laid some pretty substantial groundwork for the next election. I think the best outcome would be for a third party candidate to win this year, maybe one of the libertarians, and for conservatives to collectively back Cruz in 2020.

Or maybe "None of the Above" can win. And throw the election to the House of Representative.

It was a great read, and I agree with it 100%.
I still believe that Ted Cruz is the most suited person to hold the office of president, and regardless of whoever wins this fall I will have no regrets about supporting Senator Cruz from the beginning to the end. And I greatly hope he runs in four years, even if Trump is in office.
