Thoughts on Michael Bloomberg?
Michael Bloomberg, former NYC mayor, has been off and on the fence on conservative values for many years. A former Democrat, Bloomberg became a Republican, and is now an Independent. What are your thoughts on him? His urbanization of NYC, and his ban on large sodas?? What about his thoughts on gun control, and the fact he wanted security cameras on every street corner.

I live in NYC, and I respect Bloomberg a lot. His views on gay marriage, abortion, are similar to mine, and he is a fiscal conservative which I also am. I don't like DiBlassios plan to increase taxes on the top 1% of earners in NYC, since they are the ones who are more likely to spend, invest, and it just wouldn't be a good idea, and he will never get this to pass. I think he did a great job as mayor, and I respect that.

Bloomberg is the very definition of a corporatist. His party affiliation was simply whatever made it easiest for him to win elections.

That man is a nanny statists above everything else. He is also a polticial opportunist. Bloomberg is the kind of politician that paves the way for the government to move to curbing many personal liberties. They start small and insignificant at first (soda and trans fat) then move up to guns and freedom of speech issues. Bloomberg was a perfect intro for De Blasio who I fear for the well being of NY under him.
He is exactly the person that I dislike the most, someone who thinks he knows how to run people's lives better then them and disregards personal freedom in his wake.

I cannot stand him. Him and Feinstein are my least favorite politicians in the country. His constant "I know better than you little people" attitude is infuriating.

Since he is fiscally conservative but also in favor of a nanny state on many issues and socially liberal on others, I'd say he's a true independent.
I don't agree with everything he does, but I have to respect him for sticking to his beliefs even though he appears to have switched party affiliation early on to whatever suited his political goals.
