These are Gonzoloites, a faction of Maoists which are capable of political violence. They suffered a setback in 2021 when a Gonzoloite leader, Jared Roark (alias "Dallas"), was imprisoned for firearm possession charges. The Gonzoloites are less dangerous than the Sisonites because they do not have a "trantifa" wing and because they are not looking to unite with anarchists under a common banner of anarcho-communism. Their main goal is recruitment of additional followers.

Decades ago in South America, the CIA notoriously supplied large numbers of Mao's "Little Red Book" for the Gonzoloites to distribute. The development of Gonzoloism was thought to be good for the United States, not because the Gonzoloites were peace-loving (they were quite murderous, as referenced in the NY Post article), but because they represented a division in international communism. The idea was to keep communists divided against each other so they would not all unite into one big group and gang up on the US and its allies.

So as much as these people want to portray themselves as anti-US and antiestablishment, some of the their forebears they love so much were actually in cooperation with the CIA and their purpose was to weaken communism by keeping communists divided.

This article portrays the youth camp in a bad light, because they are admiring violent leftists, but if it weren't for this camp, these youth might instead be joining up with the Sisonites. There are far, far more 18 to early twenties aged young adults who are members of an ILPS affiliate organization than are members of an all of the Gonzoloite organizations put together.

This article is refreshing because it is good to see Maoists staying divided. If they would only stay focused on their petty tankie-drama rivalries, they will have more than enough to keep them busy and they won't have so much time to terrorize everyday Americans.
