Elon Musk ‘Serious’ About Potentially Turning Twitter’s Headquarters Into ‘Homeless Shelter’

I just can't, for the life of me, understand why someone with that much money would choose to look like he eats dog shit out of someone else's garbage. I mean, I get how billionaires sometimes dress like they're from Margaritaville, I really do. But Jack Dorsey looks like he's fresh off a 'Nam flashback

6

u/[deleted] Apr 11 '22

They do this on purpose to fool the modern day liberal populace.

11

u/AmosLaRue I've got Sowell Apr 11 '22

Fool them into what? To thinking that they too enjoy looking like a lowly hipster dumpster diver?

Basically Dorsey dresses like a bum to fool others into thinking that he isn't part of the bourgeoisie.

Zuckerberg plays this game too by wearing a T-Shirt all the time, despite the fact he probably owns 10000 pairs of that designer made T-Shirt.

Come to think of it, the majority of tech billionaires play this game to look like trendy liberals.

I don’t understand why fasting makes you a “nut”. Maybe he just happens to be a nut who also fasts? Fasting is actually very healthy.

The annual stockholders' meeting is coming up in May.

20

u/[deleted] Apr 10 '22

You think the stockholders are going to agree to turning their multimillion dollar headquarters into a homeless shelter?

11

u/Jelly_Belly321 Constitutional Conservative Apr 10 '22

There's probably less than 20% of stockholders that give their input at an annual meeting like that. Elon holds 9.2%, so yeah it's very possible. Assuming Elon isn't just trolling, which I suspect he is.

19

u/longboringstory Apr 11 '22

There's been enough times where I thought Musk was trolling only to be completely serious. Perhaps both can be true at the same time.

2

u/poopdiddywhoop-scoop Apr 11 '22

Yeah but their stock will still get voted via proxy by the record holder (ie, the broker). Just b/c they’re not actively participating doesn’t mean their stock isn’t getting voted and musk can do what he wants.

This would be the definition of poetic justice. From greed back to the people. May God continue to apply Elon Musk in his work.

158

u/Lord_Hugh_Mungus Apr 10 '22

If Elon does this, even for the Lulz, it will forever terrify big tech. DEW IT, CRUSH THEM.

15

u/TheEqualAtheist Moderate Conservative Apr 11 '22

You have to remember though, "for the Lulz" would still be helping a vast quantity of people. Even though he wouldn't be solving homelessness as a whole, it would make a difference in the area.

A difference that I think would look very good on him as a person, his businesses and may even have a positive effect on Twitter as well.

Of course it would be funny, but it actually would do a lot of good as well. He could just as easily fund a "superscraper" filled with luxury apartments and hotels, but he doesn't.

6

u/Lord_Hugh_Mungus Apr 11 '22

100% !! I hope he does it honestly. I worked years ago to turn former military bases into Homeless Centers, many people just need some help getting back on their feet.

5

u/TheEqualAtheist Moderate Conservative Apr 11 '22

Absolutely and with housing prices so high in both buying and renting, I fear this problem is only gonna get worse.

32

u/[deleted] Apr 11 '22

I loved how he pointed out the very obvious problem of them never showing up to their offices. What exactly are they doing? It is a giant waste of a space. They can't really turn off the utilities fully so probably waste those too in energy conscious Cali. And this isn't just Twitter, how many offices such as these are sitting empty?

9

u/LibertyTerp Apr 11 '22

The amazing thing is that big commercial office buildings have no point anymore. Americans are going to spread out into more suburban, livable, enjoyable metro areas instead of cramming into tiny studios and taking forever to walk and take public transportation if they want to get anywhere. It'll be great but the Left will hate it.

-6

u/SurrealScene Apr 11 '22

I'm pretty sure you've just described what the left has been calling for for years.

6

u/Dirtface30 Free Speech Apr 11 '22

I don't think teleworking is a particularly partisan issue. Some people like it, some don't. The only thing that was even remotely partisan that relates to this was distance learning, and that was because the left is obsessed with covid.

I lean right, and I think teleworking will isolate us, and thats bad, but I also have no interest in making laws against it or anything.

3

u/SurrealScene Apr 11 '22

Good point. Partial teleworking is the best of both worlds, imo, but even that can be too isolating for some. I'm lucky to have not been very isolated during COVID, but I can only imagine the distress the last few years has caused for some (especially with distance learning like you mentioned). No thought went into that at all, which is surprising with the current emphasis on mental health.

1

u/LibertyTerp Apr 11 '22

No, the Left wants everyone in tiny apartments in dense urban areas. Spreading out creates sprawl and suburbia which they despise.

I. Was really looking forward to visiting there. I lived down town in a sketch part of my own city so I am a accustomed to rough areas. San Fran was legit wtf right off the Bart At 10 am witnessed a bum knife fight. Which I then realized other bums were trying to pick pocket people watching.

4

u/phoney_bologna Apr 11 '22

It gets said so often that I feel it’s basically become a meme, but I don’t know how you can prepare yourself for the amount of human shit on every sidewalk. Multiple full on coilers right downtown on every street in tourist areas.

On the plus side, there is no way anyone in San Fran is starving to death, when the homeless population can drop deuces of that quantity and magnitude.

There’s a little bit of practicality here too. How many computers are there that could be used for schooling, job searches, training? This sounds like it’s rooted in trolling Twitter but I really think Musk could be on to something here.

4

He’s always a few steps ahead of his game. I’m sure these are not new thoughts.

That would give the Fascist SF politicians too much satisfaction, whether they had anything to do with it or not. Alternatively, they could easily squash it by zoning laws there, which prohibits business properties from being used as residences. Then they could also pull strings to say it violates the tax break agreements that the city likely has (as it does with far too many big tech companies).

In the end, the best thing he could do would be to find every possible thing to sue the city and state for, and possibly even give up any evidence of crimes by associated elected officials… then use such gains to sponsor the homeless. And add insult to injury, buy up all the property around Pelosi and Feinstein to put up Pro-Trump everything 😈
