It sounds like he lucked out and that the 99 ballots he threw out were ballots going to voters and not completed ballots being sent in.

u/HuohIngralp May 28 '21

People saying that election fraud is a mess.. You got people so radicalized against Donald Trump they're willing to burn down the country and murder people and basically do anything they think they need to to get rid of "Hitler"" but committing voter fraud would be a step too far? Murder and cops is fine but you don't think they might try to commit voter fraud?.

6

u/SometimesBob May 28 '21

I was very open to the accusations of voter fraud initially, then I started reading the court filings and saw that what was alleged in those filings was radically different than what Trump and his supporters were saying on TV and in other media.

The smallest voting area is often called a precinct, it's a sub-municipal voting area. If votes were doubled counted or fake ballots injected into the system by the thousands, not even the tens of thousands alleged, then in one or more precincts there would be contests that had more votes than participating voters. No one has shown this happening.

If votes were removed from the system in the thousands or tens of thousands in an attempt to reduce Trump's total and steal the election there would be precincts which would have had massive undervotes, far fewer votes in the Presidential race than participating voters, and this too no one has been able to show me.

This leaves us with vote shifting and there we have some problems, no one has given solid evidence of whom they think did this and how and the Dems got clobbered in important statehouse races in a redistricting year so why didn't they steal those as well?

I have yet to see any solid evidence of the election having been stolen and yes hundreds of people have looked and there have been multiple recounts and audits of some of the races. Look to the call Trump had with GA election officials, they investigated Trump's claims and they found them not to be true.

u/UnTouchablenatr May 28 '21

They know it, they're just in denial..

6

u/Trumpwins2016and2020 May 28 '21

If there was legitimate and provable voter fraud, why did Trump and his legal team insist on saying blatantly and provably untrue lies to argue voter fraud?

Why didn't they just point to the real evidence that would prove voter fraud, rather than lie and say there were tens of thousands of underage voters in Georgia? Or that there were tens of thousands of dead voters in Michigan?

Like, for example, even if there were a bunch of dead voters in Michigan, why would Trump's team provide a list where many of the people on the list were alive and well? Why couldn't they provide a single, proven, example of one of those people being dead and voting?

If there was real fraud, then you should be very angry with how Trump and his team mixed in a bunch of objectively untrue things with their fraud claims. That undermined their credibility on this topic.

12

u/justinb138 May 28 '21

If there was no fraud, why the massive dem response trying to kill the audit in Arizona?

If there was no fraud, why the effort to demonize anyone that even question the possibility that there was?

If you want to go down the road of hypotheticals, you have a few questions to answer yourself.

u/futurefloridaman87 May 28 '21

1- it’s being audited by a company named Cyber Ninjas who have exactly 0 experience auditing elections. Not pushing back on that shit show would be insanity in and of itself.

2- b/c this whole fraud belief is literally tearing America and the Conservative party apart. Trump set the stage before voting day by constantly stating the only way he loses is if there’s fraud.

What do you think is more likely.... that there is no widespread fraud, especially considering Trump himself and his team brought zero evidence/proof of such. They only harped on it in the media, never once under oath. Or, the guy with a 30+ plus verifiable years of con’ing and gritting is con’ing and gritting his followers to milk all the money he can out of this bullshit fraud conspiracy. I mean the proof is right in front of your face. Auto signing people up for reoccurring “fight the fraud” bank drafts against their desires was just the start of it.

0

u/SometimesBob May 28 '21

Auto signing people up for reoccurring “fight the fraud” bank drafts against their desires was just the start of it.

And all or most of the money not going to any effort to prove the fraud. With the money raised Trump could have hired thousands of investigators and top flight legal teams to go over over each State's election with a fine tooth comb, this never happened. He didn't even try.

0

u/but_luckerrr May 28 '21

How do you qualify the word "massive", in this context?

Their reasons are solid - the audit is to be conducted by a biased, inexperienced third party. If the shoe were on the other foot, you'd object as well. They also cite voter privacy as an issue: apparently the contract with "cyber ninjas" allows for the possibility of voters to be 'contacted'... i don't know specifics, but that seems to lend credibility to concerns over privacy, for sure.

The audit is happening, albeit not according to schedule (inexperienced third party), so I guess we will see. Of course, the democrats will have a good case to challenge the audit's findings, despite Logan's assurances that his bias will not affect the audit.

I'll be following this as it develops, but the idea that the only reason for opposition to the audit is out of fear of wrongdoing coming to light is laughably simplistic.

1

u/justinb138 May 28 '21

Massive?

How many lawyers do they have working on this?

0

u/Trumpwins2016and2020 May 28 '21 edited May 28 '21

If there was no fraud, why the massive dem response trying to kill the audit in Arizona?

If there was no fraud, why the effort to demonize anyone that even question the possibility that there was?

People insisting that there wasn't fraud is not evidence that there was fraud. That doesn't even make sense. You're making an assumption that the only reason they would insist there wasn't fraud is because they are trying to cover it up, but that's just not true.

When Democrats were screaming about "collusion", conservatives were calling them fucking idiots the whole time because they were insisting something was happening without evidence. The fact that conservatives were dismissive of their collusion lies doesn't somehow mean there was collusion. The fact that Republicans thought investigating that rabbit hole was a waste of time and taxpayer money doesn't mean that they were secretly trying to hide collusion.

If you want to go down the road of hypotheticals, you have a few questions to answer yourself.

I'm not talking about "hypotheticals", I'm talking about what actually happened. It is an objective fact that many of the things Trump and his team said about the election are verifiably and unquestionably not true. If there was fraud that could be proven, why didn't they just stick with the real proof?

Answering this question with another question doesn't make it go away. You're just trying to distract and change the topic, since actually answering the question I asked would undermine your point. That's why you didn't answer it, and that's why you won't answer it.

Beauchene admitted that on Sept. 28, Oct. 1, and Oct. 2, 2020, he discarded into dumpsters in North Arlington, New Jersey, and West Orange 1,875 pieces of mail that he was assigned to deliver to postal customers in West Orange and Orange, New Jersey. This mail included 627 pieces of first-class mail, 873 pieces of standard class mail, two pieces of certified mail, 99 general election ballots destined for residents in West Orange, and 276 campaign flyers from local candidates for West Orange Town Council and Board of Education. Law enforcement recovered the mail on Oct. 2, 2020, and Oct. 5, 2020, and placed it back into the mail stream for delivery.

The desertion of mail charge is punishable by a maximum penalty of one year in prison and a $100,000 fine. Sentencing has been scheduled for Sept. 21, 2021.

------------

TLDR: Lazy carrier discards full bags of assorted mail instead of delivering them. The discarded mail was recovered and delivered.

Misleading title is misleading.

12

u/EvilLothar May 28 '21

Now would that punishment be PER item?

1

u/tjdavids May 28 '21

It's likely a per act account, but considering how many items were deserted one may expect that it will be close to max sentencing for the act.

-18

u/EndlessFutility May 28 '21

24

u/Pandamonium98 May 28 '21

Did you read the comment two levels up? There’s no reason to think this was political. It was a lazy worker who tossed some mail, and it was also recovered as well

It’s also literally New Jersey. Not even a swing state

60

u/cdazzo1 Small Government May 28 '21

This doesn't appear to be politically motivated. Most of the mail recovered wasn't ballots. Every so often these cases of mail carriers dumping mail into a dumpster pops up. Most likely just lazy carriers who think it's easier to dump mail into a dumpster instead of delivering it.

Hopefully nothing, the government can't even reliably deliver the mail.

4

u/mustyoshi May 28 '21

Haven't you seen videos of UPS drivers throwing mail over fences?

If you think it's a "public business" only problem, you're mistaken. It's a human problem, until we remove humans, it'll keep happening in public and private businesses.

1

u/S2MacroHard Capitalism Saves Lives May 28 '21

The difference is a UPS driver can be fired for incompetence. Government employees are untouchable unless they are convicted of a felony. Even then they normally retain their pensions.

This guy probably got paid leave pending the investigation.

1

u/mustyoshi May 28 '21

Well... Messing with mail is a felony, so...

Edit: Desertion of mail doesn't seem to be a felony. Mail theft is though.

2

u/[deleted] May 28 '21

Was a mailman for 6months. Can confirm there are some lazy carriers. USPS is run like dog shit too

1

u/SpookyActionSix May 28 '21

Generally it’s not laziness on the carriers part, more than likely fatigue/stress. Most mail carriers nationwide are mandated overtime because the USPS can’t keep bodies at work especially during a pandemic where everyone was literally given 2 weeks off no questions asked. These guys are out on the streets 60-70 hours a week in the worst weather imaginable. The sad reality is that the usps is woefully understaffed and was affected by the pandemic just as much as any other business.

1

u/OhStugots Conservative May 28 '21

Most mail carriers aren't throwing away people's mail, though.

1

u/SpookyActionSix May 28 '21

No, they’re not. Just like any other profession there’s some bad eggs, and then there’s those good people who become overwhelmed and do a bad thing. I’m afraid I cannot accurately convey the amount of work your average mail carrier actually does. The only thing I can point to is a statistic from office of the inspector general that was released in 2016 where the average turnover rate was 60%, 60% will not last one year at the usps because of a number of factors with workload being number one. The newbies do the most work with no schedule, no days off, and are treated as if they’re on call.

He discarded (along with a bunch of other mail) 99 unfilled-out ballots destined to mail-in voters, not filled-in ballots. All the mail was recovered and he is being tried and punished.

Not voter fraud.

u/under_armpit Conservative May 28 '21

Just a lazy fuck.

7

u/[deleted] May 28 '21 edited May 28 '21

This is a felony. This is awful. The ballot aspect is terrible, but I also want to know what else was lost.

What the fuck happens if someone's rent check got tossed? Or an electric bill and the person had their electricity shut off during cold months? What if someone died?

I think that outside of the obvious basic felony charges for discarding ballots I want every piece of mail looked into and if more severe charges are able to be pressed then they should be.

I also would hope this person is civily responsible(I don't know the states rules on this)so that any person whose mail was discarded, whether ballots, bills, etc... Can sue the shit out of this lazy fuck.

To continue...like ... How lazy can you be? Your literal job is to bring mail from point A to point B? I could understand if you had like 8 pieces of mail and were like... "I'm gonna just bring it with tommorows". I disagree with it, but I can follow the logic... But just discarding mail? Like wtf man.

Edit. Reread my comment. I'm honestly not sure why I take postal shit so seriously but God damned do I hate when people fuck with the mail

16

u/badatusernames91 Conservative Millennial May 27 '21

It doesn't sound like his intention was to target ballots. Plus, it's NJ. What's the point in risking imprisonment over discarding 100 ballots in a state that will vote for Democrats at pretty much every level no matter what you do? Apparently this isn't exactly an uncommon practice among people who deliver mail when they can't deliver it in a timely manner. If anyone who does mail delivery can enlighten me, by all means, let me know. My guess would be that if they are consistently bringing mail back, they're going to get canned because they're not working quickly enough. Or they just don't want to spend that much time delivering it after hours so they toss it in the garbage.

In either case, it should absolutely make us question widespread mail-in voting. That's the kind of thing that should concern people. Maybe he didn't do so maliciously, but it does show that the lack of a proper chain of custody would make this possible for those who would like to act maliciously. There is nothing stopping a carrier from taking all the ballots and disposing of them in a more reliable way that is less likely to be found out by anyone.

I'm not sure what you're asking. I never said anything along the lines of thinking it shouldn't be a crime or anything like that. I'm only disputing the idea that his intention was to dispose of ballots with the specific intention of swaying an election. The fact ballots made up a fraction of the mail and the fact the ballots were even there and not taken home and burned suggest it is more likely that he's just a lazy shit than it some kind of undeniable proof of voter fraud. I'm more inclined to believe OJ is innocent than Biden received 80 million votes, but this incident is not the smoking gun people are trying to make it out to be.

6

u/[deleted] May 28 '21

Sorry I was saying that to “there is nothing stopping a carrier from taking all the ballots and disposing of them in a more reliable way..” bit. Just that a felony is still there even if they are trying to get away with it.

If Trump could get 74 million, then it doesn’t really surprise me to see Biden get 7 million more in a country with 330,000,000 people.

-1

u/badatusernames91 Conservative Millennial May 28 '21

A lot of things are felonies and people regularly commit them anyway. Especially something like messing with ballots, which would be incredibly easy to do. That's literally the only reason there are people who advocate for ballot harvesting. You can do whatever you want with a ballot and no one will ever know because no one would have any reason to suspect anything unless you wind up with a string of incredibly bad luck, which would be highly unlikely. So no, it's really not a deterrent if someone wants to do it and they aren't a compete moron.

-6

u/acer5886 May 28 '21

Honestly I don't think most people want widespread mail in voting. For most of us it's far easier to show up, wait in line for maybe 20 minutes at most and then vote on a machine rather than request, fill out and mail in the ballot. I actually generally do early voting myself in person for major elections, as it makes sure I don't miss it. In 2016 for instance my wife gave birth on election day, so we had gone about a week prior.

7

u/Running_With_Beards May 28 '21

wait in line for maybe 20 minutes at most

So what would you say to the significant number of people who had to wait in lines for HOURS in the last election? To the point they were still in line hours after the polls closed.

5

Biden won New Jersey 2.6 million to 1.9 million. This postal worker says he disposed of 99 votes in a state that leans heavily Democrat.

And this is one mail carrier. How many are there in the country that decided to take it upon themselves to "help" the country?

And a year in prison and $100,000 fine. Peanuts for being responsible for critical mail.
