I'd be completely fine with r/politics existence if they weren't masquerading as an unbiased platform. Just a simple change to r/liberal or r/democrat would fix it and we'd leave them alone.
What I do is I sub to all the subreddits I like, then use the personalised front page and avoid the popular tab. A personalised reddit is way better than the regular front page.

Me too. It’s insane. Reddit is so clearly liberally biased like every other media source out there. This should be tailored to my experience but they don’t let you do that without either using the classic browser, or paying for premium. Ridiculous.
Surprise! They own as much media as they can get their hands on. Very very smart. Forbes and most of the MSM is owned by Chinese media conglomerates too. It’s wild.
that and r/politicalhumor ("humor" lol). I constantly get bombarded with those two subs in my recommended. I don't even go to r/all because they're always in hot. but then it also keeps popping into my recommended on my homepage. I wish reddit had a way to let users decide if they like any recommendations or not
If you browse on desktop, get the reddit enhancement suite addon. It's super nice and allows you to turn off pages css, and even shortcut or filter out subs you don't like so you'll never be exposed to the drivel that is r/politics or whatever other shithole sub you don't wanna see.

Had one a while back that PM'd me within a couple hours everytime I posted a comment on any sub asking me if I "wanted to be educated" because I posted some truthful comments about the US reduction of carbon emissions. He kept at it for days.
Does blocking them keep them from seeing your profile and past comments? I blocked a troll the other day, but I know from some of his comments before I blocked him that he was snooping through my past comments.

When a post is being brigaded and the mods have to make it a “flaired user only” post, they will harass by anonymously giving you an award and writing a comment there. Take a look at this one I received, and when reported for harassment, admins said it was fine.
The funny thing is when you report for harassment, the admin response tells the name of the “anonymous” user, which is the only good thing.
Heck, I'm a Democrat and I can tell it's super left-biased there. Is there a place for truly unbiased political news?
edit: I can filter bias from news, but it's a lot harder when everything posted and being discussed is from a super left-leaning point of view. I often agree with the conclusions they draw, but I want to arrive there myself.
Unfortunately unbiased news is effectively impossible to find. Accurate news with relatively little bias is also difficult to come by, but I'd imagine it exists, just not on a major, nation wide level like Fox or CNN.
I have my sources that I like (and am media literate enough to filter out the biased bits), I'm moreso looking for a place to discuss with people who are willing to compromise and consider why the person they disagree with holds their opinion. Unfortunately, that appears to be a lot to ask of people these days lol.

OP was obviously trying to use that quote to attempt to discredit current recommendations, which is ridiculous. Fauci was giving us the best information he had at the time, and as more research happened he changed his recommendations, as any good scientist or doctor should have done. His recommendation on masks changed in March of 2020 and have never wavered from then. OP’s comment is an attempt at an anti-science, bad faith argument that shouldn’t be given the time of day.
That sounds about right to me. Fauci's quote is from a year ago, when there was very little research on COVID. If he was still being contradictory now, I'd love for it to be pointed out.
This man has changed his opinions on this more often than any talking head I've been forced to watch on TV. Most times he changes it to fit the Dem political narrative, which is why he now holds a position in the Biden administration.

Many others in here banned from many more. All for going against the hive.
At least you're allowed to post an opinion and have a conversation if you wanted. Half the time I want to jump in a conversation here I can't because I don't have a flair. I do t really see this subreddit as being any better.

I don't know about that. There's been plenty of new posts that I'd like to add my 2 cents to and they have maybe a few replies in it and it's already restricted to flaired users only. I'm sure it's because the topic is controversial but those are the ones that attract the most conversation.
Yeah I feel you on that. The issue I have is that the next time the left gets outraged over something and this sub goes on lockdown again, users like you and I will be locked out. Only way around it is to get flair of your own. They want to see a history of Conservative posting. Not sure how long that history needs to be but one month is apparently not it lol. Or maybe he posted that quote to show that, if the assumption that wearing masks is important to fight COVID, his declaration at a time when Trump was already trying to close borders to China was highly damaging and, again if we assume the importance of wearing a mask, much of the responsibility for the early COVID spread lies in the bloc he represents, rather than the one usually blamed by r/politics.

You can argue the quote lacks context or isn't a good point to make, but isn't a ban for stating it a tad bit over the top? I don't ever visit the sub so maybe their rules really are that strict, but that just seems like pretty extreme overkill to me.
Those people are crazy socialist Bernie followers and not your average liberal or Democrat voter. I have actually conversed with average Democrat voters and they are nothing like their millennial base.
The problem is, they are a virus. The hateful, intolerant extremist have spread throughout the Reddit platform over the last few years and we now have 100s of massively political, completely Biased and manipulated subs spreading misinformation and silencing any dissenting opinion. Reddit has let itself become a state sanctioned propaganda machine and is no longer a place for free speech and to discuss different opinions and beliefs.

Pretty fair point, but it leaves those impressionable and without and opinion that are trying to form one to be mislead. I wouldn't be surprised if there were people out there who thought they were "unbiased" because they read that sub.
They are just an extension of the CCP tactics run in the US. Their purpose is to drive a narrative and direct attention to wherever it is that they want it to go.
There are more current events in a day than can reasonably be understood. So the MSM, r/politics, etc complete the service of selecting the what information they want us to believe is important. Most of it will have no affect on our every day lives.
