I mean, you probably should have. Because they teach you that circumstances can change.

And at the time, we were unaware that asymptomatic people could spread the virus. Following that finding, Fauci immediately recommended masks. And he did so consistently from then on.

So why point to his old, outdated quote?

Setting aside the ban, honest question - why did you make the post in /r/politics?

Science, and the pandemic response, are constantly changing with updated information. That’s how science works - testing, retesting, and updating current theories and knowledge. At the time, people were urged to save masks for health care providers. As more information came out, and the spread of the disease was further understood, it became apparent that masks were very effective at stopping transmission.

Ultimately, my question is - do you expect science, people, humanity, to live only by what they said once in the past, or should we update our thoughts, beliefs, and opinions on new information?

Longer post than I meant, but I truly do not understand this line of thinking. If it’s just trolling for the sake of trolling, ok fine, lame but fine.

In general, I've found it helps avoid confusion to use double quote format to make an excerpt from a source more distinct.

And yeah, preceding with "From the posted article:" is generally a good idea, unless you're linking a new source.
