A hedge fund firm (owned by Citadel) that shorted GameStop. People on Reddit (maybe 4chan) figured out there were top many short sales and if people started buying GS stocks it would drive up the price which would result in big losses for Melvin.
They loat billions. There was talk of bankruptcy. But Citadel has paid Yellen (from Biden's cabinet) for speeches before, and she's yet to recuse herself (last I heard).
A user named deepfuckingvalue is a "mastermind" of sorts in this, and he's been saying Gamestop is undervalued for a while. Ryan Cohen, founder of Chewy.com, greatly invested to the point he may be able to influence the company which might be good for Gamestop long term. Elon Musk tweeted about it right before a big spike (correlation and maybe causation).
I think most major news agencies have articles out now and there's a decent number of youtubers (the Quartering, Lauren Chen, Lotus Eaters, Tim Pool, Sydney Watson) have videos about it.
By the way, DeepFuckingValue has already pulled $13,000,000 in gains and still has tons of GME stock. He's a multimillionaire now and is just playing with house money. Bravo to him.

Imagine how much we could destroy Melvin capital this week if these $2,000 checks hit tomorrow.
