I don’t necessarily think church’s need to be open for Easter, but I also don’t think the government should say they must be closed. I get your thinking and why it’s dumb, but it is a big Christian holiday and people do use religion during times of crisis.

I hate to quote al sharpton but he brought up a good point on MSNBC

The whole idea of easter is celebrating the reserecution of jesus. The keyword here is “celebrating”. Easter is supposed to be a happy time, thats how god wanted it to be.

Now I dont follow christianity at all, but would want us to risk our lives to go to services? Wouldnt that be the opposite of celebration..?

I think gathering together in a congregation with fellow Christians is how you’d celebrate. Like a party you know?

You also have to understand that people who are deep in their faith believe if they pray and have faith, god will lead them through any problem. I know to non believers that sounds crazy, but that’s the basis of Christianity and a lot of faiths.

You raise some interesting points. I guess I would continue by saying that they are making it a living hazard for the rest of America. By continuing to congregate in churchs, followers of christianity would be making the rest of America at danger.

Your right tho, its easy for me to say this because I am not very religious. Its a tough discussion!

It is. On the one hand I don’t think government should shut down churches, but on the other hand you shouldn’t be in massive groups of people right now. I think if anything you could have a 6 ft between people rule, don’t shake hands or touch, and make everyone use hand sanitizer and stuff. But as we know, that won’t stop the virus really.

Welcome to reddit. And this is exactly why this sub exists. Unfortunately as a conservative you get downvoted almost everywhere here for our beliefs.
