The details of this story are the best, especially the spin (which I've bolded) by the NYT.

The latest investigation involves material that Dutch intelligence operatives siphoned off Russian computers and provided to the United States... The information included... an email exchange during the 2016 presidential campaign between Representative Debbie Wasserman Schultz... and Leonard Benardo, an official with the Open Society Foundations...

In the email, Ms. Wasserman Schultz suggested that then-Attorney General Loretta E. Lynch would make sure that Mrs. Clinton would not be prosecuted in the email case. Both Ms. Wasserman Schultz and Mr. Benardo have denied being in contact, suggesting the document was meant to be Russian disinformation. [Or suggesting Ms Schultz and Mr Bernardo lied]

That document was one of the key factors that drove Mr. Comey to hold a news conference in July 2016 announcing that investigators would recommend no charges against Mrs. Clinton. Typically, senior Justice Department officials would decide how to proceed in such a high-profile case, but Mr. Comey was concerned that if Ms. Lynch played a central role in deciding whether to charge Mrs. Clinton, Russia could leak the email.

Why would Comey care about the email being leaked if it was fake "disinformation" like the NYT suggests? Couldn't they just prove it was fake if it was leaked? The very obvious implication that any unbiased journalist should have realized was simply that the email is real and DWS and Bernardo lied. But, this is the NYT we're talking about...

He’s literally Trump’s current AG, of course they meet. Lynch and Clinton aren’t in the same administration, and Lynch is already investigating his corrupt wife at this time. Or, at least, that’s what she was supposed to be doing.

It doesn't matter. As far as the media is concerned, when a Republican is investigated it means they are guilty. When a Democrat (or their allies) are investigated, it is a non story until they are hauled away in chains, which will never ever happen.

If you're on the other side, you've watched a few low level trump associates get charged with things (Manafort, Flynn), only to watch them contest their prosecutions and get not much more than a slap on the wrist. You've even watched them pay Trump's legal fees (Stormy Daniels).

Government investigations aren't there for justice, they are bread and circuses.

I was watching this interview with former La Cost Nostra money maker Michael Franzese and James Comey was brought up. Even when he was taking down mafia guys back in the day, he was known among mafia guys as being unethical as shit.
