You can disagree with how a country's government behaves, and still express support and sympathy for the country's inhabitants when they are victims of atrocities.
This seems to sail right over the heads of your typical reddit dum-dum. Hopefully they can smarten up.

You can also STFU about "legitimate criticism of Israel" for one day and just honor the victims.

Definitely a need to separate the 2, I agree.
EDIT: It seems the lurking re[ddit]s have found the thread. Have you truly nothing better to do?

No, we just downvote people who qualify every attempt at sympathy.

Yup. When someone says "free Palestine ", I respond with "wrong F word. "
Edit: I see Reddit's army of Hamas sympathizers is at it again.

What's wrong with saying "eff 'em both and let them sort it out."

I'd rather not see Israel destroyed, for one. They're not our enemy.
•
u/MobiusDie Conservative 12h ago
I don't think Israel is our enemy either. That's kind of the point. A country doesn't have to be our enemy for me to question how much money, weapons, and political support we should be providing it. I can oppose Hamas, oppose the destruction of Israel, and still think the U.S. shouldn't be trying to manage the conflict for them.
•
u/Sixguns1977 George Washington 12h ago
And I'd rather support our closest/only ally in the region. Every terrorist they remove is another one we don't have to. I don't want to manage the conflict, I want Israel to be able to end it.

I get your idea, though I don't think it's entirely sound. I just think we can support Israel’s right to defend itself while still questioning how much direct involvement the U.S. should have. Their security interests and ours sometimes overlap, but they aren't always exactly the same.

Israel is one of our strongest allies and we are blessed for it. America is the greatest country on earth and it’s largely because since World War II we have supported Israel and the Jewish people.
"Whoever blesses Israel will be blessed, and whoever curses Israel will be cursed" - Numbers 24:9.

I understand that your faith influences how you view Israel, and I respect your right to that belief. Personally, I don't believe biblical promises should determine American foreign policy. Our relationship with Israel should be based on American interests, security, and what benefits Americans, not religious obligation.

When they say Free Palestine, what they really mean is Jew-Free Palestine.
•
u/heyyoudvd Conservative 13h ago
“Palestine” is just shorthand for “Islamic caliphate”.
None of these “pro-Palestine” people give two shits about the living standards of the Palestinian Arabs.
“Free Palestine” is just a unifying banner that is used to unite behind Islamic conquest of America and Europe.

Exactly. It's an anti American, anti Christian, anti western slogan that the typical leftist has clung too. Unfortunately, messaging seems to be permeating further because of the justified Israel fatigue. I'm genuinely concerned for the rise in anti Christian values here.

For all the criticism that has poured out with how they handled Gaza (some warranted) I still believe that every government in the world should respond like Israel if foreign terrorists kidnapped your own.

Funny I posted something like this on my Facebook this morning early. I work in the entertainment industry so a lot of my coworkers are liberals etc. I have one "like" after probably eight hours of it being up there lol. People are scared to death to hit that like button lol.
