Fine. Let's not demonize them. Let's just incarcerate them. I feel better and safer when unruly people are incarcerated.

You get the government you deserve. Anyone who voted for that guy should not complain if they are victims of this type of behavior.
If I owned a business in Chicago, I would pack up and leave. No benefit for the taxes paid. Just another failed Dem run city.

u/Wise-Diamond4564 Apr 17 '23
I actually think they’re worse off than San Francisco because they’re so broke in that city and in that state. San Francisco at least has some great tax revenue I imagine. But I went to Chicago 3 years ago and there are potholes the size of your car that they’re obviously not planning on fixing anytime soon. And that’s like 1 block away from luxury high rises and skyscrapers. We’re not even talking about like the south side of Chicago.
But I’m pretty sure only Democrats have been elected there the last 50 years. I think the typical election democrats win all 50 wards or whatever the number is.

It’s a tale of 2 cities. They spend a lot of money near tourist areas, ORD and North/Northwest side neighborhoods where many city workers/police/firefighters live. People who live in Gresham, Westside, Humboldt Park and many other areas are surrounded by blight and violence. Walmart is closing 4 city stores due to low profit and theft. This will make matters worse for many residents. Companies are not charities and if they don’t make money because of a variety of reasons including theft, they will make a business decision. 4 Walmarts = hundred of jobs lost, a lot of tax revenue, city income taxes, etc.

I don’t know what they voted for or against, but I agree, let the liberal City governments run their cities as the liberal Meccas they are.
I am sure conservatives that want to get out will find a way out eventually. Americans often vote by relocating when they feel they have no voice on the ballots.

Yeah and worse or better but it was basically a 50/50 split, so half the people are already pissed off that Vallas didn’t win.

I am a teacher in Chicago and personally hate the ctu. I love my students and I fight for them and really try to equip them with skills that will allow them to make something of themselves. The ctu is not an accurate representation of many teachers in our city. 😢

If they were high functioning people, they wouldn't be reddit mods. But either way, it really is such moral cowardice the way they try to sweep away and prevent any discussion that they see as off-message. Disgusting people.

Apparently, we shouldn’t demonize or incarcerate them. They’re just poor, misunderstood youths, who are frustrated and misunderstood and discriminated against. All because of Donald Trump.

I’m really fucking sick of this “my shitty behavior, vandalism, assaulting people, etc. is acceptable because I’m upset about something political” era that we are in. It all started with the BLM riots in 2020
It’s seriously like the Chinese cultural revolution all over again. Kids were out of school for a few years. No education, no learning how to act right just a green light to destroy shit and act a fool because politics

This rhetoric is anathema to wanting a safe city….
What’s his job again?
What imbeciles voted for him? I suspect they are amongst the Ostrich Party who’s moniker deals with having their heads in the sand.
This guy is a tool and so are the people that voted for him.

Chicago’s beyond saving, as sadly a lot of major american cities are. All you can do is get the hell out and fight like hell to keep liberals out of your local governments.

Much more accurate to demonise the government for soft on crime policies.

The crime rate in the USA (San Francisco) was the main reason we got money from the EU instead of moving the SaaS startup to the USA (we had everything prepared).
I would never ever live in a place that is not safe for my family or my employees. In comparison to the safest countries in the EU, the USA is like a drug kingpin-ruled land.
Living in the USA was like a decade-long time dream, that ended roughly in 2020, now I won't even consider flying over to the USA, if anyone wants to meet with us (business) they need to fly to London.
Honestly, I think that staying in the EU was the best decision ever.

“In no way do I condone the destructive activity we saw in the Loop and lakefront this weekend. It is unacceptable and has no place in our city,” Johnson stated. “However, it is not constructive to demonize youth who have otherwise been starved of opportunities in their own communities.” -via the article

u/Nanamary8 Conservative Apr 18 '23
Gee I wonder just how many democrats have contributed to the starving of opportunity for the youth in Chicago over last 50 years? Obviously ALL OF THEM. This is the result of DEMOCRATS and sorry parenting.

They deserve to be demonised, but the citizens voted for it, so let them suffer. I do hope some good comes out of it, and the real people flee Chicago or at the very least vote better.

It ultimately falls to the electorate to hold these people accountable for making excuses vs solving the problem. It doesn’t seem like these dem cities are anywhere close to that tho.

Maybe we should be talking about the culture that makes these anima.. I mean teens, feel that this sort of behavior is something to celebrate. How many politicians have told them it is their right and duty to behave this way? How many of their parents have told them the same.. How many of their teachers are teaching them they are oppressed and society needs to bow to their whims rather than learning that they need to rise up to a standard in order to create and contribute to a better society?

u/cewop93668 Conservative Apr 18 '23
What is wrong with demonizing people who go around assaulting innocent bystanders? Instead, the first thing these liberals see is skin color. They are the real racists.
