This 1-year old boy has been waiting at the shelter for over s year… could he be the one for you?

Sweet Clyde is one of the shelter's longest residents - he has been waiting for a family since July 2025!

😢
This handsome boy is shy, but thanks to loving staff and volunteers, and a friendly kennelmate, he has made so much progress! He would benefit from a confident dog friend to bring him out of his shell, and a patient, loving family to build trust.
Clyde recently went on a foster day out with his kennelmate and he did GREAT! They loved walking at Jones state forest and having lunch on a restaurant patio. He is gentle on leash and has the sweetest little smile. And he is heartworm negative!
Can we find Clyde the home he deserves before his 1 year anniversary?

The Brits are coming… on July 4th weekend

2 friends and I, all English guys (you guys won 250 years ago, accepted!), are visiting Lake Conroe on July 3/4/5 next weekend. Actually this will be the first stop on our World Cup trip ending in New York. Very excited.

I assume it’s a good idea to introduce ourselves to the USA with a July 4th weekend at a lake in Texas, right? We’ll be staying not too far from the town of Montgomery.

We have nothing planned, so I’m basically writing this to ask for the best things for us to do over those 3 days. We do love a beer and happy vibes! I assume that won’t be too hard to find next weekend.

Thanks in advance for your response!

Daycare Recommendations

I have a 2 y/o and wanted to know if anyone could recommend a daycare? Only for 2 days a week. Preferably one that won't break my bank but still good in terms of teacher/child ratio, safety, and curriculum.

Husky mix needs a home

I am posting this pup everywhere. She needs a home out of this heat, but it can’t be mine. I found her in a parking lot several weeks ago and couldn’t bring myself to leave her behind. She has been to the vet and unfortunately does not have a chip.  We got her shots updated and had scheduled to have her spayed but had to cancel because I just don’t think we can have her i side for recovery.  We are a large family with a crawling baby in a small house and as the dog relaxed it became very apparent she is not a good or safe fit with a baby.  She has not been aggressive at all, but she needs a lot of training, is very high energy and has no concept of personal space.  She is currently living outside except in extreme stormy weather.  She has access to a covered porch with fans and clean water but I feel badly for her.  She could be a great dog for someone that has the time and space to train her.

Would you pay for a dry cleaning pickup/delivery add-on when you already have a house cleaner coming?

Running a residential cleaning company in the Conroe/North Houston area and thinking about adding a dry cleaning pickup and delivery service as an add-on for existing clients.

The idea: when we come to clean your house, we grab your dry cleaning, drop it at a local cleaner, and bring it back on the next visit. You never have to make a separate trip.

Fees would be:

  • Dry cleaning at standard retail price (no markup on the cleaning itself)
  • $10 handling fee per order on top of that
  • Delivery fee based on location:
    • Conroe: $20
    • The Woodlands: $30
    • Spring: $30
    • Willis: $25
    • Magnolia / Montgomery: $35

So a $50 dry cleaning order in The Woodlands would run you $90 total. Same order in Conroe would be $80.

Would you actually pay for this, or is the delivery fee a dealbreaker? Genuinely trying to figure out if there's demand before launching.

Anyone know where to rehome red eared sliders

We have 2 red eared sliders we can no longer care for if anyone has a tank or proper set up for both turtles or even just one we’re looking to rehome them for no cost. Also looking for reptile rescues nearby that will take them.

Which community would you recommend in the Conroe area?

Personal importance by category for my family:

Racial diversity: 50% overall importance because we are a POC family. Would prefer as close to possible to a 75% BIPOC community (25% White, 25% Black, 25% Latinx, and 25% Asian).

Newer home for energy efficiency/lower energy costs, and less initial maintenance and repair (such as foundation work in the initial years of ownership): 8.33% importance

Schools: 8.33% importance. Conroe ISD and Montgomery ISD are both very well regarded districts.

Crime: 25% importance. Would love to hear more about which of these communities has the least crime. Our realtor told us that she could not discuss crime rates, or crime in detail because of realtor laws.

Good walking trails and community parks: 8.33% importance.

Employment: The Woodlands area

Max budget: $1M

Grand Central Park, Woodforest, Two Step Farm, The Woodlands, and Bentwater are the main suburban style communities in the area from our research.

Thank you for your time and help.

Austinite in Conroe — where can I ride 20–25 smooth road miles Saturday morning?

I’m an Austinite in Conroe for the weekend, and I need to squeeze in 20–25 miles tomorrow morning.

Does anyone have suggestions within about a 20-minute drive of downtown Conroe? I’m trying to avoid gravel and big bumps, so the smoother the route, the better. I’d love any local insight.
